In my current Monarch game, I'm playing as the Chinese and have the Japanese, French, Iriquois, English, Egyptians, Russians, Romans, Greeks, Germans, Babylonians and Zulu as my opponents. The French were just killed off by the Zulu. I took out the Iriquois (sp?). The Romans and Germans are at war. I am acting as the world's police force, wiping out pigheaded/overaggressive/annoying civs and returning land to its rightful owner.

The English and Japanese are my longtime allies, both of them have MPPs with me so we're like the Coalition of Goodness or whatever. But here's the problem. Japan has been trooping units through my territory on and off for the last fifty years and it's starting to piss me off. They are gracious with me, so I tell them to piss off. They declare on me. Uh, WTH? We've been best friends from square one, but now he declares over a territorial dispute when he's gracious? Is this right?

I will have no problem keeping him at bay, seeing as I have rifles and he's still at pike/musket level, and my Cavs easily outstrip his Knight and Longbowmen. But why did he declare? Do the AIs get more foolish on higher difficulty levels? It seems especially stupid since I have somewhere upwards of four times his land mass, productivity, and military might.

Was it smart for Hitler to open a war on a second front with Russia in World War II? :(

Was it smart for Japan to bomb Pearl Harbor?

Was it smart for Saddam Hussein to fight against a vastly larger and more technologically advanced foe? TWICE?? :nono:

Was it smart for Bush to let the "terrorists never stop thinking of ways to harm the United States, and neither do we" line slip on camera? :vomit:

World leaders do stupid things all the time. The AI isn't written badly, it's written realistically!

AIs are stupid... that's the problem!
I had lots of situations like this... betraying is not problem for any Civ...
I think the situation would be better, if you didnt send them out form your territory. Was it a real problem?

Yeah, they were stealing chickens and annoying my women. But really, they were getting in the way of my workers and settlers, and basically pissing me off. Also, I had set up border guards and there were massive amount of Jap longbows on the other side of the border, waiting to pour through any gap. If I had opened the border so the Japs could get out, more would get in. So I used the Get Our Or War thing.

Why didn't you just sign a ROP so that he could move his units through to the other side of your territory? Usually you can get huge monetary (or otherwise) compensation for a ROP if your territory's vastly bigger than theirs. (You obviously didn't have a ROP or you wouldn't have been able to order him out).

You could just put unoccupied units on your border so that other civs can't come to your territory, I always do that when there are a few open spaces in my territory and some AI want to put their city there. But thats true that AI is VERY stupid, in one of my last chieftain games, I just got modern armors, while the most advandced AI got gunpowder and believe it or not 1 civ declared war on me, came with knights and longbowmen against my MechInfantry...how dumb can it get!?!?!

Yeah. that's what I do, I just block them from going where they want to go

Yeah, that was the whole point of me putting riflemen on every border square. But they used a ship to get over here, actually they were in Lizzy's territory. But now they have a really, really long Trail of Death marching thru my land because I had no guards on the English border......and the idiots cant just get back on a ship to leave, that's to rational for them.

I quite like it when the AI gets stuck in my terretory like that. It means I can get them to declare war on me any time I like, giving me war happiness, and if I feel like cheating (cos' I am too far behind) I can get a tech for gpt, and then not have to pay them.

I would like to know when he said this.

Oh okay.

That sucks. It's just another reason people will start voting for Kerry. :(

Hopefully most Americans will realize what Bush meant to say rather than decide not to vote for him because he's not the best public speaker in the world.

There's a lot of people that may not be good on a podium or in front of a camera, but that doesn't automatically mean they should be discredited. If someone is going to decide not to vote for a candidate, we'd all hope it whould be about something of substance and not "fluff" or a few gaffes.

Back to topic, yes, AI is stupid and suicidal. Or maybe not, it is trying to break our nerves. :twitch: Every time I get to have my own continent and to be tech military and everything else leader they declare on me :spank: and are instantly eliminated. :suicide: That way you can win faster and start a new game where the AI will try to beat you again ! :crazyeye: [pissed]
