this is just a suggestion, but i just realized how usless fighter planes really are .I only find them useful in the ww2 in the pacific scenario.Fighter should have a different kind of air superiority routine.Instead of waiting for aircraft to come to them and then shooting them down, you should be able to attack specific aircraft kind of like the stealth attack. The two then go back an forth shooting at eachother until one is shot down, kinda like land units.I mean you should still be able to shoot down bombers that attack you which can come in handy if it ever happend.

well, three things. 1)the reason you don't see fighters shooting down enemy bombers very often is because they act more like a deturent than a defense system. the AI knows where your units are and what they're doing, so it usually avoids bombing where your doing air supuriority. 2) even as they are, they are useful, especially if the game is competative in the modern ages, as by then both you and your opponet should have a sizeable force of bombers. 3)if you are bombing them and they aren't bombing you back because they're behind in tech you might want to move up a level

you can already do that actually, using the stck move function ( a side note: if you have 5+ bombers in a city and stack move them to a carrier, the 5th, and the rest will land in the ocean instead of the carrier, an exploit)

How? I would like to know.

Do you mean Control/shift "J" works for aircraft??? If so, I feel like an idiot :wallbash:

you should :p

I suggested that same Idea in annother thread. That in mind, why not add the concept of battle groups to the game for land sea and air. The implications would be amazing:
Massive bombing raids with fighter escorts Ala WW2
Huge Combined Arms forces, think Roman leigon, Greek Phalanx. Mergeing lesser groud units into unstoppable armies!
Naval battle groups: Wolf Packs, Carrier strike teams, AIGES Defence lines.

So many stratagies, so few enemies to use them on....

 Fewer units with more strategic importance would definitely reduce tedium and add to enjoyment.
:crazyeye: Have you been reading those (expletive deleted) suggestion forums again?!
 I thought that maybe we should listen to complaints customers have had with Civ 3 since day one.
 Listen to customers, please.

But seriously, I do have my doubts that this forum is ever given a good look by the developement people. Otherwise, great synopsis Yuri, and it would make the fighter's smaller range a dilmena, since that would reduce the safe distance bombers could go. Ask the RAF in 1942-44.

BTW: Humor writing is hard.
