Agree with pigswill too. Declare on Joao. IIRC there was a decent amount of military in position. Good mix of siege, melee and random other stuff.
 
I thought having Jao around with one city would do us no harm, but I was wrong it seems. Agree on getting rid of the portugeese culture forever! Lets declare on him and his master. This will give us +diplo with the Orange, too, and maybe we can get other nations attack him as well..
 
Playing my other turns now , Joao is a vassel of DG so we have to declare on both , waiting is not a option.

The unhappiness will be extreme and will slow our research but I doubt we have any contest whatsoever at this point for liberalism , even if our economy takes a huge hit .

Im still undecided on Itza and I would really like to see if we got the 25% in captured city's , it would be quite helpfull but il follow the others and let it go its a crappy wonder anyway.

Our citizens will forever fear me , killed 1/3 of our population I think.

Get 406gold from Chichen Itza.
GP is born , settle him in Washington.
spy's report 7 defenders in Lyon , all the other French city's have only 3/4 defenders and spot no incoming stacks.
We declare and massive unhappiness breaks out , all our city's are working 0-2 tiles beside the free tile :lol:

IBT: Portuguese pult attacks and retraits.

T9: GSpy born for DG , GM born for Izzy , Islam founded in Nottingham .
Kill the pult and start bombarding Rheims.

T10: Harapan captured by the Dutch , its the city that was completly surrounded by dutch borders.
We capture Rheims , lose 1 pult and 2 maces killed 6 defenders.

Start bombing Lagos , 85% with walls , yuck , need 2 turns despite a lot off accuracy pults.
IBT: Lose our 2 combat 1 longbows that gaurded the stack and 1 mace , kill 2 pults and a chariot , must have been a stack that returned home.

T11: G.Artist born for SB
Im not sure I should attack Lagos already , its still highly defended and our maces are hurt from the fight in the IBT , healing will take ages with a medic 1 unit in enemy lands so decide to go ahead .
Its a disaster and we lose most of our stack :cry:

I had been trying to get Lizzy to trade Engineering to me but to no avail , we only had 1 spy in Nymegen , it was at 40% stationary , if I remember correctly it costed us around 1800EP points.
The spy returns safely.


Trade philosophy +100g for theology and drama with Lizzy , start building theatres everywhere .

T12: Kill mace+HA that had been wandering near Boston , lost a mace.
Unhappiness is down a LOT , start growing our city's.
IBT: Kill a pult.

T13: Suicide a pult to kill a xbow.

T14: Cancel the silver-corn deal with SB and make it into a silver-silk deal , we can get the corn back for our sole copper , couldnt get both resources for the copper.

T15: AP leader vote comes up , vote for Lizzy offcourse.

Afterthoughts:

Still havent seen a increase in Lizzy's treasury so my guess is she either settled her GM or its still walking , keep a eye out.

We have 2 spy's at Nymegen , the first at 0% the second at 10% stationary , I doubt we have enough EP's to steal anything though.

All of our city's are growing so keep a eye out and MM them every turn in case WW goes up again.
Theatres are build in half of our city's and nearly build in the other half so when needed turn culture up to 10% for 2 :) in all our city's .
We also have a lot of colloseums up and running in case you want to go to 20%.
Once a new AP vote comes up and we lose the 5 :mad: our people should grow like weed again so when my next turnset comes I can whip them into oblivion again :lol:

This army is heading towards Lyon , last time the city had 4 or 5 units in there but our spy got caught 2 turns ago so not sure now.

The army at Lagos is almost healed up but it needs more siege , once all the theatres are finished start pumping out trebuchets like there is no tomorrow .
We have enough spy's in France but no EP's so cant use the revolt strategy.

Lizzy will get PP in 4 turns , will be a nice trade for education and we will get some extra gold to boot.

Liberalism is due in 3 turns , nationalism seems the best choice since we have marble for the Taj Mahal.

Not picking a side with the religions has taken its tole , now they all hate us :lol:
I doubt we gonna get people trading with us anytime soon so going for domination seems best , we might want to keep fighting with DG and capitulate the moment we can , give him all our techs and use him as buffer and helper for future wars.
Edit: This screen is bugged , we are at +2 with Lizzy , +1 with SB , -2 with Bella and Willem and -11 with DG.

Had a look at the save. The game's in much better shape than I expected from the report.

We seem to be well ahead on liberalism, do we want to try the old trick on leaving lib with one turn to go then researching elsewhere to see how far we can get? On theother hand a GA from Taj wouldn't be a bad thing...

I like how we're doing -- we've been #1 in score this whole game and I suspect that unless we make some colossal mistakes, we'll be able to manage a military victory with ease. Keep up the good work.
 
Superb turns, Shadzy19, we are way on our track towards victory!

Cant we talk others to attack the French with us? Would be nice if thats possible. Otherwise saving lib for a more expensive tech sounds good, we can use a GP if we want a Golden Age (and/or research Nat. and build Taj).

We seem to be at a natural break. To recap, looks like we're going for a domination victory since everyone hates us. Shadzy did a most excellent job getting us out of a difficult situation :salute:. We got what we wanted out of the CI build (cash).

Maybe a tactical discussion of how to reduce France at this point?
 
We are the the most productive and most advanced civ in the game and our city's still need to grow a lot so our economy will get even better.
Killing DG shouldn't be much of a problem , I didnt spot any stacks whatsoever and checked all his city's at least once the last couple of turns.
The only stack he had was fighting The Hague.
All we probebly need is some trebs in both stacks , a few maces and perhaps a pike in case he gets knights.

I would propose the following plan , ive used it quite a few times and its fast , safer and saves a lot of time/turns to get victory , we might just get conquest before we get domination though.

Capture Lyon , Orleans and Paris and vassalige DG, gift him all our techs and spare resources .
Finish lib right away , take nationalism and get the taj mahal asap .
Start beelining rifling.
Switch to police state , declare on the next civ (tech leader)
Take some city's , vassalige him , gift techs , rinse and repeat.

We might even be able to turn of research after rifling , switch to police state , vassalage , slavery , mercantilism (we still have trade routes with out vassels! ) , theocracy .
And draft/build shitload of units to get this over even quicker while using our gold to counter unhappiness .
 
Mostly so he can build and use the latest units/buildings/civics , not so important now but it will be after we get rifling.
 
Also being lavish in gifts increases his disposition and makes him more willing to trade voluntarily and therefore become useful (particularly as we can tell him what to research).

- more spy points to de Gaule
- finish liberalism, took nationalism, start on constitution
- one turn later I change my mind and change research to Guilds: DG has knights and crossbows in the field, we need more (diversive) units
- building theatres in most cities, otherwise trebs, maces, pikes
- I recon this war will take a while but hey, fighting is fun
- willem makes peace with france and adopts mercantilism
- GS born, start Golden Age (best to do with him now, methinks), switch to free religion and caste system
- start hermitage in philadelphia near english border, it´s also a good place for globe theater
- capture lyon, Taj finished, guilds researched, start on gunpowder
- trade guilds + education to lizzy for prining press, compass and 520 gold, willem didnt speak with me the whole turnset :(
- general settled in Boston, now trains knights with 11 exp!
- stop after 10 war turns, next person have fun with 14 more turns of Golden Age :D

DG power rate has taken a big dive while ours keeps going up .
The battle for Orleans might be close so make sure to burn another turn to get over the river Wenz.
Lyons army when healed up looks capable of capturing Paris after which DG will probebly Vassalige.
