I really miss the Civ 2 peasant revolt. Civ3 could use some well armed Barbarians popping up in the later stages of the game. It let you kick some butt in the peaceful games and gave you an irritating new front in the warlike ones.

Heck I miss the Barbarian cities too:(

Yeah. I want to cream some more barbs! Even after Ancient Times! :)

But I don't understand why you hate the removal of barbs capturing cities. I really didn't like that.

It was pretty funny  to me to see barbs capture a city unless it was my own of course. Now with their encampments they don't need cities to build new units.

The good old days of when you really had to fear barbarians. They were all about destruction now they just steal your money. Punks!

I think I'll raise their toughness my next game, not too much because they get to uprising and they can kick out too many units to deal with.

Yeah, it was irritating to lose a city, but I liked the fear. I guess the encampments replace that. Still it was cool to take someone else's city that they'd lost to barbarians.

In the newest patch barbs do more pillaging. I think that's better than taking cities (which is a stretch). It would be nice if they would upgrade troops in the modern era - maybe to guerillas and cav's. In my games they sometimes make a comeback in the shadows near cities I have razed!

i miss the old barbs i want everthing that was in civ2 unless they made them upgrade but the old camps are so dumb.there so easy now i have set up barb farms were i put a reg\vet unit put him on a hill and let them die and my units becomeing vets\elits and then just keep bringing in new units. you should try it some time

Well at least the barbarians of CIC3 show up in massive and intimidating numbers. Oh the misery of having 25 barbs pillaging your city to the last man… Such a drain on the treasury… :(
And yes Barbs are the easy way of gaining Elite units.

But the new question with Civ 3 barbs becomes "WHY do I have HALF OF MY TREASURY in that size 2 frontier town?!!"

Yeah, I ought to fire the treasury adviser. Now that I think of it; I really miss that bickering chorus.
:goodjob:

Here’s something to think about:
“But Sire… No one would ever suspect a small defenceless town to be the host of your gold supply… Heh heh heh…”
I think the finance advisor is in league with the barbarians...
