If you don't know Crowley (pronounced crow like the bird) he was the grandmaster of the Ordo Templi Orientis in the 20's. He was called the 'great beast 666' by the British press and practiced the occult.

This article from channel 4 gives a very good short biography of him and the second is the evidence that he may be GW Bush's grandfather. If you read the biog, you will realise why it would be 'interesting' for him to be related to Mr Bush.

Crowley was extremely important in the British Occult scene and his books are now worth a fortune. He was a drug user and died addicted to heroin. He was also racist and sexist, but that's not unusual for the time.
