I believe I voiced my opinion on the JR you refer to. I merely decided to do it unofficially. As for giving in-game input, well, I did that way back before there was war with the Mongols. Others citizens did as well only to have Chieftess disregard everything that was decided in the forums and make her own trades in the chat. Since then I've seen nothing but elected officials who want to do things their own way. They don't use polls to ascertain the citizen's wishes. They use polls to cover their behinds when doing what they want to do. You want me to participate then reform the government so I have a say. Otherwise I'm not wasting my time on this game but trying to lay groundwork so the next one can be enjoyable.

So because someone who hasn't been involved for months disregarded posts, you've given up all hope? With very few exceptions all problems with DP mistakes have been minor and due to mistakes on behalf of the DP (who was often new).

You talk about elected officials 'who want their own way'. Huh? From someone who has most definitely argued their own corner (quite vigorously) I find that an interesting accusation. We all want our own way and I thought one of the points of this game was that we expressed that, but in the end let the will of the people decide. I think by and large it has. One of the problems has been is that there hasn't been an awful lot of people on the games side of things. But even so, the Mongolian war is not the only example robboo can point to where things haven't gone his way (eg founding 'red point'). I have been drafting plans for strategies that I thought were unwise, but others had different views. I'm sure other officials can say the same.

It seems that if we use polls then we are covering our backs and that if we don't poll we are ignoring the will of the people. When I first joined the game they certainly were 'cover your backs' polls - but this was because the game was so litigious and people were being accused all the time. This has changed over time and I think that 'cover our backs' polls don't happen much now. If they do, it is often because only a small number of folks take part in a discussion and we can often get more people to simply vote, so we get a better representation of the people.

I assume when you talk about 'reform' of the government you mean the 'game' side of things. You certainly have been involved in the judiciary and were willing to stand for censor. Since I have joined the DG, you have shown almost no interest in the game side of thngs and have concentrated on the 'legal' side of things. Personally, this is fine with me - whatever interests you. However, I would rather you admitted that (like Ravensfire did recently) instead of claiming you have not been involved because things needed reforming. You have shown plenty of zeal in reform of the things that have interested you. Perhaps you could start by explaining how you might reform things?

Of course, I may have missed the whole point of your quote. Perhaps your disparaging remarks were simply a cheap shot at robboo in one of your big personal battles.

Whatever, it will be interesting to see who chooses to start the next game, whenever that is.
