Alexander's Conquests development thread

Oops again. Obviously that didn't happen. I've pretty much decided to wait for Plotinus' workers, though Shirou and Rob have caused uncertainty for me by both deciding to do a new Alexander LH. You wait for one, then two turn up at once etc, etc.

Anyway, some advice is needed. I'm rearranging the LHs in the game, and this is what I've come up with - but I'm open to suggestions.

Greeks.jpg

Alexander III of the Alexandrians
Antipater of the Macedonians
Cersobleptes of the Thracians and Illyrians
Leosthenes of the League of Corinth
Agis III of the Spartans
Timoleon of the Western Greeks
Alexander I of Epirus
Mithridates of the Pontic Greeks

Persians.jpg

Darius of the Persians
Azimilik of the Phoenicians
Spithridates of the Eastern Greeks
Bessus of the Bactrians
Spitamenes of the Sogdians
Sabaces of the Egyptians
Battus (?) of the Kyrenaicans
Gerrha (?) of the Arabs

Med.jpg

Marcus Valerius Corvus of the Romans
Pontius of the Tyrrenians
Hamilcar of the Carthaginians

Eastern.jpg

Taxilas of the Gandharans
Porus of the Pauravas
Sandrakottus of the Mauryans
Kuveni of the Tamils
Zhaoxiang of the Qins

Barbs.jpg

Chorienes of the Scythians
Zalmoxis of the Dacians
Toutatis of the Keltoi
Odin of the Germanoi

Africa.jpg

Buktu of the Africans
Akhraten (?) of the Nubians
Nastasen (?) of the Merotes

I'm not sure about whether I should be using the female LH for the Merotes, if I do then the name will have to change. Likewise for the Kyreaican and Arab LHs, I will need new names if I use these. Any ideas? The present Alexander LH will most likely be used to replace the Pontus LH (it's a duplicate at the moment) when I get my grubby little hands on Rob or Shirou's new LHs. Kuveni of the Tamils should be out soon, Shirou has just been putting the finishing touches to her I believe. If anyone has a better idea for the Germanoi or Keltoi then I'm happy to hear it. I'm a bit unhappy about having red haired LHs for both of them.

EDIT - ooh, whoever posts next please quote my post so it's available at the beginning of the next page. :)
Why not use placeholder graphics for the missing units? A simple zip of the files for us playtesters to install when they become available wouldn't be hard; sincew it's an intermediate version you could just place the right ones in the final package.

You may want to use the Kanishka LH R8XFT is making for Anno Domini instead of the firaxis one for Taxilis.

Does the Firaxis one look too modern / too western / too Islamic? I was wondering whether to use Nausharo II for that actually. Kanishka isn't one of my favorite LHs by Rob to be honest, though if enough other people argue in his favour then I might consider it.

Thanks for the feedback.

Too modern & looks like a Mughal. Nausharo would be better, I think.

Nausharo it is then. I'm also thinking that maybe Porus could move to become Darius, Asoka could move to the Pauravas, and Rob's new Asoka could come in as Chandragupta.

Rob's Alexander is likely to be in as himself, and the Alexander I have in at the moment will become Alexander of Epirus, finally the current Epirote will become Mithridates. Having done that I will have a different leader for every civ, which is good.

Regarding the placeholder units - I have some more work to do anyway, so I'm not just waiting for the graphics. Also, I'm trying to avoid any large patches so the install is easy. I don't mind updating the biq, but I'm trying to avoid patching the art files too often.
