Alex's Uniques v0.00001

Good choices (although I'd use Trireme, Cataphraktos and Evzonos, to spread them in all ages - but it's your mod and your doing a marvellous job mate! :goodjob: )

Here is the image of a (modern, but wearing the traditional uniform) Evzonos, from the Guard of the Greek parliament:

I think this is an awesome idea!

For the Aztecs, you could have Eagle warriors in the Ancient Era, Bandidos or Rancheros in the Renaissance, and (hehehehe) Zapatistas in the Modern era!
Eagle Warriors would replace, oh, I dunno... axeman? Jaguars replace Swordsman, right? the two should be contemparary, with perhaps a defence/offence distinction.
Bandidos/Rancheros should replace Grenadiers, and should look like Pancho Villa (look'im up)!
As for Zapatistas, well... it'd be so sweet if they were like the CivII guerrillas, except only the Aztec can have them *drooool*... Thinking along those lines though, maybe, whenever a rival city's population is over 50% Aztec, there is a 1/4 chance of a Zapatista spawning in the city radius? and, although it's under your control, it won't move away from the city radius, and will automatically disappear as soon as that city flips?
Or, on a completely different approach, they could be relatively weak units with a special Bombard-ish ability that shoots other units but not city defenses (to represent guerrilla tactics)...

For the Inca, some sort of Llama-cavalry unit would be AWESOME (if extremely innacurate :p)!! Naw, seriously, the Inca should have some sort of worker unit who can improve Mountain tiles. Even better, they should have a special Worker who can build roads through Mountain tiles!
Another possible Ancient era unit which might be overpowered is the Amauta; Amautas were a little bit like wandering "wise men" who told stories. Since the Inca never developed a written language, you can imagine how important these "keepers of culture" would have been. Anyway, the units could work kinda like missionaries who can spread your state religion (whatever it maybe at the time), but can also explode (in your own cities only) for a little culture boost (25-50culture maybe?).
A good idea for their Renaissance unit would be the Guardia Bolivariana... They'd replace the Cavalry, and for their looks, Im sure there's lots of pictures of Simon Bolivar floating around. They should probably have some extra bonus in the vein of decreasing war weariness (or maybe you can draft one citizen whenever these guys are in a city?), bacause of the ardent patriotic fervor that Bolivar's liberation incites (even today) in large parts of South America.
For the Inca Modern unit, you could make Tupac Amaru, yet another guerrilla unit (sorry!)!

An idea for another Russian UU... KGB agent! I'm not sure exactly what it would do, but it would (obviously) replace the Spy, and perhaps just have more espionage abilities. And she (yes, she) should look like the CivII Foreign Advisor, beret and all!

I'll probably think of a few more and post them later... hope you like these though!

Not to insult your work at all, Alex, but I did some light editing of your mod to fit my preferences a little better. So far I've only edited the legion/praetorian units (I'm kind of a Roman fanboy). But, for anyone who's interested, here are the changes:

Legion- 6 strength instead of 4 to match the axemen they replace

Praetorian Guard- 7 strength

Marian Legion- Changed name to Imperial Legion (Just a preference) and changed strength to 7.

All bonuses are kept as in the original, so Praetorian Guard is still slightly stronger than Imperial/Marian Legion, but mainly as a defender.

If anyone wants to DL my edited version, please PM me and I'll post it.

AlexTG, thanks for a great mod and making this possible.

A few notes:

Legion doesn't replace axemen - it's supposed to replace spearman, if it doesn't then that's a bug.

I don't mind you changing stuff to suit your tastes :) but I'm trying to keep each civ fairly balanced, so I'll leave rome about in line with the other civs unless a lot of people think they are too weak.

Also, Heroes182 you have are some great ideas in there, I will definitely use the culture bomb unit probably for a few civs, and I like the guerillas idea, but that would probably require a bit of python work so it would come later. I think i'd make it so they only spawn when your cities are captured though.

yeah, that makes more sense... I do kinda miss CivII style guerrillas, they were fun, if not stupendously useful.
I'm gonna look through my MesoAmerican and SouthAmerican books later and see if any other good unit ideas come up.

For the KGB Agent (or just in general... I think Spies are really lame compared to previous Civs), does anyone know if it's possible to give Spies at least some of their old abilities? Stuff like Incite Revolt, Initiate Propaganda (this would work so well in Civ IV as well! it'd push the population slider in rival cities in your direction...) and, my favourite, the Persuade Unit one from CivII! I know it's very cheeky, but if the cost is high enough, I think this could be made usable. And UUs would be un-persuadable of course...

I also have a lot of ideas for spies/terrorists but it's sort of a seperate mod. Maybe once I'm done this one :D

1 suggestion:

- Skin the units, or have people submit more skins. The concepts are great, but a ninja that looks just like a swordsman and a mounted samurai that looks like a European knight kind of detracts from the experience, especially when you have 2 identical looking units on the field at once.

I'm not artistic but once I'm done making all the units I will start on skinning them. If anyone wants to go ahead and skin something, I will incorporate it into the mod (if it's decent) as I did the cowboy skin. Unfortunately due to work, I haven't had a lot of time to work on this - but I think I will have another release with 2 or 3 more civs done this weekend.
