All animations slow

Man I really can't get this. On Win98 the game speed was perfect as it should be on 1.2G Athlon, 384 MB, Voodoo 5 5500. But on WinXP ALL animations are damn slow. It helps a bit when I turn all possible animations off, but still there remains few animations, ie. fortify animation.

Any ideas? Might be Voodoo drivers on XP?
