Still, 95% of terrain as flat jungle (good luck with removing it from every single tile!) and one banana/sugar per damn billions of hexes is something ridiculous

To be honest, almost every Firaxis "special" map seems to be either completely unplayable or at least strange because of the crazy resource placement

I played Amazon on a lark as the Aztecs and simply did a 2 City NC and then razed everything that wasn't a capital. I didn't remove the Jungle on tiles that were not on river tiles leaving those for trading posts, your science isn't dinged up that much by the loss in population and with TPs everywhere you basically buy everything.
