All my games freezes and have horrible artifacts

Ok I'm on the territory of pure weirdness. First of all my hardware specs are

Windows XP Home
Pentium 4 ; 2.6 gig
512 DDR Ram
Nvidia Geforce 4 TI 4600
Direct X 9 (installed with the game)
Latest Nvidia drivers and Chipset drivers

Ok, the other day I was able to play several games of Civ 4 with no problems. None of the listed problems in this forum occured like game crashing during wonders movies. But when I tried to play the again today the main menu with the globe had flickering artifacts all over it! The game promptly freezes after about 5 sec and causes my entire computer to crash! The weirdest part now is that all my games now have flickering artifacts and crashes my computer. Is there something wrong with my video card? Its really hard to believe that a Geforce 2 can run this game and my Geforce 4 can't.

That is strange did you just updated that driver for video? If so roll them back becuz some of them will not run properly on older games for some reasons.

Or your video and/or hardware registers could be corrupted and make sure you dont have spywares infected your pc, they can even screw up your hard drives and make it unreadable. So many bad things happen to ppls pc due to spywares.

No I don't it has anything to do with spyware. I thought it had something to do with windows so I reformatted and reinstalled windows xp home this morning. All drivers were freshly put in using all the latest drivers for each repective component. The problem is still there. Damn artifacts flickering everywhere and the game crashes the whole computer.

Sounds like what happened to me when my video card fan dies. Had to get a new fan before I could use it again.
