I am at 115AD, and somewhere along the game, my terrain is now all the color of desert, a pale yellow color. The trees are green, the ocean blue, the interface unchanged, but all land is the same color, pale tan.

I went back to earlier saves, and everything is normal. What happened? I want color back in my game.

Any help is appreciated.

I looked around the forum and have not seen others with this problem.

So I went back and started over. The colors are normal. I have been taking screepshots every dozen turns or so, to see if there is gradual change, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

I resumed my newest game, and as I was taking my turn, the color just blinked a few times and all the tiles went to light brown, and the FOW is now dark brown. Unexplored areas still look the same.

And it isn't everywhere, there is a little patch next to a boat on the other side of the continent that still has green in the plains and grasslands. All the rest, back at my main cities, is light tan.

Any ideas?

I am surprised at no feedback, but I will assume I am alone in this unusual occurrence. I hope my documentation and experimentation to find the reason for this video weirdness will help others who may experience similar problems. Though I bought Civ6 pre-order, I only started playing it after a few add-ons, the Vanilla game reviews didn't entice me. So I bought the updates and started a few weeks ago, then ran into this video problem.

I will start again, this time with no dlc from the Workshop, just R&F. .

Have you looked at your display drivers?
I thought it might be the video card, but I have not changed or reinstalled the drivers. I will try that. Thanks for the help.

I updated the video card drivers. It is happening even earlier now. And at one point there was a giant horizontal wall across the entire map.....
If the game was more fun and engaging I would be inspired to troubleshoot this... but it is not. So I am heading back to Civ4.

You "updated" the drivers only? If there is a corruption or outdated file there it could still cause issues even after updating. That's why I suggested completely removing/uninstalling them and then doing a clean install. Since you haven't mentioned what hardware/software you're using, another possibility is that what you have is inadequate for the game. You could try lowing the graphic's settings and see if that helps. Another option would be to contact FXS support for help. If you do end up coming back to VI in the future, hope you will have better luck.

I have the exact same problem. I did a complete reinstall of my driver and it made it worse. It happens sooner now as well. I have a Nividia GTX 980 graphics card. Using an Asus Gaming system, i7-4790 3.6GHz CPU , 16gig RaM, using Windows 10. Going to try and reinstall the game. See if that helps.

I did a complete reinstall of my driver and it made it worse.
Did you also completely uninstall your display drivers first, before reinstalling? Also, you could try verifying the integrity of the game files first before doing a full game reinstall.

Yes I did a complete unistall of the display drivers. When I reinstalled them the problem became worse. I also did verify the integrity of the game files before I did the full reinstall of the game. The files integrity was fine. Now that i have reinstalled the game The problem seems to have cleared up. I am on turn 62 of a game with no problems yet.

Now at turn 102 and still no problems.
