Alpha and Omega

I received the files fine. Problem is, I'm in Colorado on a ski trip, with no in condo internet acess, after being misled to think I did have.

Loaded up the files, and am confused, being my first PBEM. Only one turn? I did a turn and the game autosaved, and told me to forward to(can't recall offhand). Says it wold do so automatically, if it had my STMP, or some such thing. But, being on vacation, using different internet services, I don't think that's going to work. So, if it's only one turn, who do I email the files to?

Also, if it is only the one, why? This seems like a lot to go through, for one turn. I"d say 10 turns, or something, would be good. Or more, or less. But, as I said, I'm a newb to these.

I'll try to check online ASAP again tomorrow, and do what I can then.

Bill

there is no way for us to send the saves automatically. as far as I know, the stmp thing doesn't work.( read something to that effect in the forums )
there should have been 2 saves sent to you
you can play them 2 ways,
1) download each attachment to your civ4 pbem save file, then start the game and play each one separately, then send an e-mail with both saves attached or...
2) have the civ disc in your drive, open the e-mail and instead of downloading, you open it right from the e-mail. the game will automatically start. after saving the game, go back to the e-mail and open the other attachment. after playing the second game e-mail the 2 attachments to the next player
when you send the saves attach both of them to the same e-mail
you should send the e-mail to sv110mhh
yes it is only 1 turn per play, to do more would require playing a pit boss game and have everyone online at the same time, constantly sending saves to each other
we are playing advanced time line games starting in the medieval time period (2 settlers, 2 archers, 1 explorer, and 1 worker) and the speed of the game is set to quick (instead of taking 80 turns to build a barracks<marathon speed> now it only takes 30 turns.
yes, it will be a slow start, but as the game progresses there will be more things to do on each turn.
right now, we just have to get into a rhythm of playing our turns and things will get better.
the play list was posted march 31 when I started, snow to castle to billy to sv to dod.
since dod is GMT+1 he plays ' last ' but in reality goes first in the day, 5 hours before me. I get home aprox. 4:30 EST and should be able to get my e-mail out by 5:00 EST making it easier for the CST players to get to their turns at a reasonable hour.
this is also my first pbem game so it's a learning experience for me as well.
don't forget to post that the e-mail was sent, and we should be moving smoothly in a few days.

PBEM can take months... I have only played one other and it is only on like the 6th turn.

Also... SMTP works... just depends on your ISP I think. I haven't read the forums about it... but I have made it work in the other game I am playing.

PBEMs are always one turn then next player and will definitely last several months.
I'm playing one Fall from Heaven with 3 friends since 2 months and we're currently at turn 56. I've played one warlords with them last year and it took like 7 months until we started a new one - and we didn't even finish that one.
Normally we get 2-4 turns a week. So you have some relation, what a pbem is about.

Bye,
DoD

Both games send to snowgod. btw - did you set the nations by random? Its funny, because I'm german in one of the games :)

turn 2 sent to castle
yes all civs and leaders are random!
options and order of play were set by me
snow

onward to sv110

I am home now, so should be much better at turnaround.

Edit:

He has replied to me with the following:

"Could you post that I have a track meet this evening and I will play
around 9 PM ET?"

Sorry my fault, send right saves this time - gotta remember years are counting downwards not upwards ;)
