I've not played much at all besides Ancient start. Seems odd, and I hope I'm doing things right.

What about early wonders? Stonehenge, etc? It appears we can't make those.

midevial start eliminated the early wonders
never having done an advanced start myself I don't know what will be the first available wonder
the game will seem to take forever for a little while, sort of boring just moving the explorer around, waiting for the first build to complete, connecting cities/resources etc.

Well the game will get more interesting over some time. I kinda like the slow start as it makes me more eager to get the next turn

thats why I started 2 games at once [double your pleasure]

the slow pace also allows for extended viewing before sending the save. it gives me a reason to look EVERYWHERE on the board to see if I missed anything. if I was playing in real time I would be pressing the end turn button WAY to quickly and might miss a tresspasser in my area.
