Alpha Centauri has been re-released by GOG.com!!!

I purchased this because it was so cheap and there is no fiddling around needed to get it running. However, I have the CD versions. Has anyone tried to install the CD SMAX over the GoG SMAC? What will that require other than putting in the CD and selecting install, besides making sure it installs in the same place?

Welcome to CFC and the Alpha Centauri forum! This thread on GOG's SMAC forum suggests that you can install SMAX on top of GOG-SMAC. I haven't actually tried it myself, though. If you run into a problem, please post again and we'll be glad to try and help.

I found my two cd's of ALPHA CENTAURI and ALIEN CROSSFIRE. I was able to load both and play using XP. I also had both books. PRIMA'S OFFICIAL STRATEGY GUIDE and the smalled manuel. I also had Chris Hartpence's VEL's SMAX GUIDE, VERSIO 4.0. Which to play CIV 5 or ALPHA???
