I'm playing as the Archos, I rushed the guy north of me, (forgot his name), founded and switched to FoL, and then attacked Amelanchier, captured Evermore, razed a city north, and am in middle of building military to the point of being able to capture Hyll (last city). This is my first time playing, am i doing very well? Am including screenshots and a save.
EDIT: I remember the guy in the north. It was the Risen Emperor of the Scions of Patria

You seem to be doing ok - after all, you are at the top of the scoreboard. The only issue that I would have with how you're playing is that you did an early rush without an early rex, however, that is more a style thing than anything important. I always like to fill up all the available space, THEN start mowing down the enemy. Having not played the archos before though, I can't say what they are best suited for. Without looking at your save, your economy looks like its still working, so there is nothing to complain about there. Overall, I guess you're doing pretty good. What difficulty are you playing at?

Please don't laugh, but since this is my first time, and since this mod changes so much, I'm playing as settler.

Not going to laugh, was just curious. The AI in FF is more based around providing a challenge at high difficulties (immortal, deity), than around providing a challenge at lower difficulties (noble and below). Personally, I wouldn't suggest playing at anything less then noble, simply because the AI is rather abysmal at the lower levels. However, this is being worked on, and the difficulty is gradually increasing. Note, because FF isn't releasing anything soon (they are working on a MAJOR overhaul of the entire system), the AI isn't being improved for it.

The other reason for asking though is that what you are doing right now, while perfectly OK for settler, isn't going to work quite as well as you increase the difficulty. Generally, one of the best things to do is expand as fast as you can. At the lower levels, having just one city isn't that much of a problem. As the difficulty increases, it becomes exponentially more difficult with fewer cities. Basically, what I would recommend you doing is to expand faster, earlier, either by warfare of by settling (which one you do is dependent upon how crowded your map is, but generally settling is easier). Other than that, have fun and experiment. Each of the civs plays very differently, so what works for one might not work so well for another.

Well, what do you normally play as?

EDIT: Maybe your advice is geared to a more peaceful oriented civ (i.e. well, there aren't that many of these, but i guess you could call the Elohim somewhat peaceful in nature) as opposed to a military-geared civ like Archos to which it may not apply the same way.

Please don't laugh, but since this is my first time, and since this mod changes so much, I'm playing as settler.

I always have the most fun playing on Chieftain, and rarely play anything higher. I am probably the only person in the entire Civ community who will say this.

Ok, I'm posting a save of what i did so far. Major things: Changed Nest city to Avitas, Built Pact of the Nilhorn, Cast Awaken Mother, Taken Evermore (Amelanchier's last city), Attacked Calabim (Taken Adonias and razed Prespur). Have I taken a good direction in my game so far?

I can't look at your save since I am at work, but sounds like you are doing fine.

There is MUCh to learn from Regular civ. Better to learn at the lower difficulty levels. Personally even after a couple years I still play at Noble OCCASIONALLY trying Prince. And I still reload WAY to often. Been thinking about changing that before increasing difficulty for me.

Peaceful civs don't exist... if your military is weak the AI WILL declare war on you, so you always need a powerful army. That was the hardest thing for me to learn.

Personally I like playing Dwarves and Elves (cant spell actual names) the Grigori, bannor, and Amurites

No offense, but can you post some screenshots? My computer doesn't like downloading savegames for some reason...

From the sounds of it, you're well on your way to a conquest/domination victory. Just keep an eye on the armageddon counter if you're razing cities - the more you raze, the more it goes up. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, but you need to keep an eye on it so that you don't suddenly discover your entire world a hellhole with the four horsemen of the apocalypse all trying to munch on you at once.

As for your earlier questions, I usually play on prince/emperor (it depends upon what I can get my GF to play at), and I tend to play different civs every time. My favorites however are the Khazid, the Grigori, and the Amurites, though I have little trouble making most civs work for me at that difficulty level (the only civs that I can't really play are either of the elves and the sidar). My usual game consists of me expanding to take up all space with settlers, then munching up the AI's one by one until domination is achieved. I'll usually try to win a peaceful victory at the same time - it becomes something of a race to see which I can finish first. Generally domination wins.

I played a game as the Archos, was a lot of fun. I'd just like to suggest that you build city of a thousand slums in your nest city, it can really boost your spider spawns.

I played my first game of Fall Further on Chieftain, I think, but quickly found it to be too easy. The AI is just terrible, especially if it needs to cross an ocean.

My very first game though, I completely screwed up by over expanding. Built too many cities early on and ended up with a research rate of 20%. Had to restart.

It could take me some time (Sunday or Monday) before I could get the screenshots up. But I think I will.

I think I'll probably end up razing most of the cities I take. I don't have to worry about the "suddenly discovering my entire world a hellhole" or "the four horsemen of the apocalypse trying to munch on me at the same time". (I turned on the "Hallowed Ground" option. I hate Armageddon and want to be able to raze cities with impunity).

Thanks, I will!
