[GS] Am I misusing Alexander?

So you guys are hard building early campuses these days or are you still chopping them in after Feudalism?
What is the goal for cities by turn 100 on average??

Some different approaches, so for example Liang and pyramids = Feudalism so why wait. It is a governor slot though and city specific but still an option.
Chop in campus and buy buildings. Gold is so broken ATM, even without clear abuses it is not a rare substance.
So much depends on what you are doing when.
The 10 cities by T100 was a very old adage that still works (pretty sure I suggested it) but it was based on needing something and throwing something out there as people were asking. After many games the judgement I use for how well I am doing is 7 by 70.

If they are in range of a great general they can move and shoot on the same turn. In general siege units can move and shoot on the same turn if the start with more than 2 movement, e.g from general, logistics but also from Chandra's war of territorial expansion or Cyrus' surprise war.

Didn't know about this little detail. However that means investing into a GG if you don't have any bonuses like the ones you mentined. I guess it makes sense that GG's give more siege potential to your army.

I still think catas lack punch though.

Would you still classify the game as "Survive the Early Game and Win?"

Lol... that was me, and I get a kick out of it that people still use it. I don't put much stock in it anymore though, I actually like your 7 by 70 benchmark better for the game in its current state. Depending on what you're doing you don't need 10 cities. https://forums.civfanatics.com/threads/milestones-and-yardsticks.606951/

... sort of. More survive the early game and be a little bit more cautious... and win.

Thanks.
I was just messing with Germany.
Deity, Standard, Standard, Disaster Level 2. Continents Map.
I only built 6 cities total and I was going to Warmonger very late but I couldn't get any oil.
My biggest city was 17 pop and the rest were around 9 to 11.
I basically painted myself into a corner with my poor play.
So I just allied everyone and did whatever.
I was able to win an SV at turn 316 which is kinda disappointing (sorta).
I was hoping the game had changed where the AI would win by turn 275 or at least before turn 300.
I guess the Diplo Race was close as I had 19 vs Egypts 18.
I barely looked at Diplo as I find it annoying.
I think my max spt was 650 or so.
Max cpt at 460 or so.
All these stats are horrid. I guess my point is that you can play really, really bad like I do or did and still win on Deity.

Yes. The Ais do not get enough bonus on Deity.

In fact from Civ5 BNW Deity becomes a beginner's level. A beginner can begin on Deity and still win easily. My first Civ6 game is on Deity, too.

Many people who are not beginners cannot win on king Lily.
These people were not born with very high intelligence, but average intelligence.
When you make statements like this it makes them feel very bad and frustrated. You post things that hurt other people it cannot be good for this site.

In this modern era where social media crushes anyone who has an "Alpha" way of thinking I suppose you have a point.
However, @Lily_Lancer has always been like this and I would be upset if LL acted all "woke" or different compared to what he/she is.
Actually LL didn't say every beginner could do this.
The statement was broad and I could see how it can be accurate.

Someone once told me that just because the game is easy for YOU does not mean it is EASY or easy for EVERYONE and I find that statement to be true.

If a beginner is feeling bad or frustrated they should study more if they have time.
One example is Culture Victories.
I hate them but with help from @Victoria and many others I was able to follow their instructions and examples and win CVs when I wanted to.
I feel like the game is "monkey see monkey do" in many respects or "copycat" is another way to put it.

I also want to state that I have a very hard time getting to Feudalism as fast as most players on this site that know how to do it consistently.
It makes me feel bad that I can never unlock it like everyone else does on this forum.
As a matter of fact, I struggle getting Pyramids and Super Builders all the time.
I also struggle with setting up the Governors correctly in the early game... drives me insane.
Just wanted to rant about that... had to edit my post to get this in!

Many times I see people saying they play Deity after Deity Game and never win as they get rolled or quit by turn 50 or so.
I think one of the main problems is that you can get crushed in the early game and see the AI at 80 spt while you are at 7 spt.
This creates a false feeling of all hope is lost.
The funny thing is if you play out the game, grow and stick with it you can actually Win most of the time.
I think it is very difficult for the average individual to want to bother when they feel so far behind but I just want to state that that feeling is an illusion, IMO that is.

I think if someone is really struggling at Deity they should play 1v1 till they get a win and get comfortable beating/ learning the game.
Now after that move up to a map with 3 other AI... used to be tiny IIRC.
Learn that game which is far easier compared to the Standard 8 version.
Anyways... just a thought... they used to have a guy that played Civ V on youtube that played against 3 AIs... sidor1984 I think it was. Pretty Entertaining IMO.

The secret is that you cannot always, you have targets but that’s what they are. Every game is different and has its own challenges.

When I started civ, let alone king or god forbid deity, I had trouble winning at prince !

I had very little understanding of why sometimes I could build a district and sometimes I couldnt. Why couldnt I put a farm on this white tile while I could put a district etc....
Even after some games, I still had trouble. Why didnt I win this CV despite having 1k+ tourism per turn?

Not everyone knows all the mechanisms from the beginning.

Currently, I am still playing on immortal most of the time. I still play very few games on deity.
