Like everyone I read the previews and rushed out to my local retailer on Tuesday to get the earliest possible dose of Civ3. I have to say that I am not in the least bit disappointed. This is one of the few times that I feel a game actually lives up to its hype.
I've played maybe 30-40 of the last two year's releases and I think this is absolutely the best. I also (like all of you) spent many hundreds of hours one-more-turning my way through countless Civ2 campaigns and I feel that Civ3 is practically the dead on logical continuation.
The game looks beautiful and I don't mind the sacrifices of movies for game-wide highres graphics. Also they didn't ship version 1.0.0 and as far as I can tell, (on my 733 Hp Pavillion) the game is almost bug free. This is all commendable.
What I don't get is why so many people spend so much energy complaining about the game. Maybe you don't agree with the design decisions... Get a Job in the Gaming Industry Then! This game was obviously very well thought out and I think its design deserves more than 72 hours of play to pass judgement on the whole thing, or shelve it as someone was threatening. Half of the complaints I've read seem like they're form people who want to be playing a whole different game!
I guess my question-after-the-rant is, Is anyone else but me completely satisfied with this game!?
