I was wondering what a good chess rating is in the US system. I haven't played chess in a long while and am just getting back into it, it would be nice to know how my rating stands.

Well anything over 2000 is Extremely good I'm 1256 and according to the calc on their site uschess.org thats like 93 percentile for kids and 45~ for adults so 1500~ is a decent player under a thousend is pretty bad if your an adult.

1800 means you know more than the basics. I would agree 2000 (expert) is a good level. If you mean good good, you need to be master (2200) is really the level for it.

So 1800 - 2300.
