Well, I read here other people`s stories and, because I play this game a lot, I wanted to start my own challenge. I will noty mention some of the game aspects ( like how much money I have, my DP sliders, revolts and other stupid things. I like the action, not the slow-paced part of the game.
So, everyone said that if you start with a country with only one province you`ll loose. FALSE! Look, how did I , step by step, conquered Europe with a small country : Wallachia!
To steal Europe - a Romanian story
Country stats:
neighbours: Moldavia , Ottoman Empire, Serbia, Siebenburgen, Hungary.
armies: 10.000 men, no leader
other: vassals of Ott Empire, alliance with Moldova, permanent CB against both.
So, first, build some troops... then manke some money. I waited a bit, until I gathered some money, I recruited until I reached 18.000 men, and voila, my first declaration of was! Serbians don`t like me, it seems.
Their army sucks, but they have 2 provinces, so it can be hard. I quickly defeated their main army, then washed the floor with their fortress in Kosovo, but almost got defeated in Serbia, when my allies, the Moldavians, came with 9.000 men in my aid.
This was fast, they offered me Kosovo and 179 ducats. Now my army will rise even more!
I built a few thousand men in Kosovo, and BOOM! Ragusa declares war! And not only them! Bosnia, Albania and Duchy of Athens are also in play! The only good thing is the fact that I have 29.000 men , and 12.000 allies from Moldavia..... which aren`t moving from Serbia.....
Anyway, I quickly annexed Albania, and when I tried to defeat the guys in Ragusa, a mixed Ragusa-Bosnia army defeats me . But there`s something strange: When I annexed Albania, I also got 4 warships; pretty useless now, but when the enemy fleet contains only 2 warships and 9 transports, it`s better than nothing, and as soon as my retreating army reaches Kosovo, my fleet sinks a warship and a transport
Then I see a biiiiiiiig opportunity: I have strong relations with Venice, and they aren`t in any alliance! Not for long...... They accepted to join me and my fellow Moldavians, but I did this only because the Papal States joined the war against me, and they have a free corridor to me through the Venetian provinces ( yeah, military acces, which is canceled when Venice joins me) Now, I don`t have to worry about the Pope`s force anym...... WHAT THE HECK ARE 7.000 OF POPE`S MEN DOING NEAR THE RUINS OF THE SIEGED FORTRESS IN MOLDOVA?
Gpd, good thing the Pope doesn`t have ships..... maybe he`s seasick.... Anyway, I left my Moldavian friends to sort out the problems for themselves ( annexing Albania and some stupid event lowered our relations.), while I annexed Bosnia. An extra 5.500 men from their army helped me annex Ragusa too, so only the Pope remained. Or did he? He offered an alliance-wide peace in which he offered me 58 ducats. better than nothing.....
But the wars in this area aren`t over! Duchy of Athens just got Morea from the Byzantines, and Serbia joined the war again. I offered Athens a white peace, but before I could do something, Moldova Annexed Serbia. Man, it`s so annoying. I have a pretty big country outside of my country, and I can`t reach them. Btw, the pope`s men got trapped in Siebenburgen, dunno why. What can I do now? Well, I could build some troops, at least until Venice declares war on Hungary & Siebenburgen & Croatia & Bohemia & Luxembourgh..... Naaaah, too late, so both my ruined army and my Moldavian fellow join this epic war.
I`ll just leave the Croatians and Bohemians on Venice`s hands, while I annex Siebenburgen and defeat every hungarian fortress around me. The Moldavians are there only as meatshields and war-score raisers. With small armies of 2000 men spread around the Balkans, they are almost useless. My army is even worse: 7000 men in Wallachia and another 3.500 somewhere in Bosnia. Venice seems to be better.... 16.000 men in Istria, 4.000 in Dalmatia and 44.000 in Veneto.... But the Hungarian army consisting of 52.000 men defeated both my and Venice`s armies in Croatia. Moldavia got beaten to a pulp in Ruthenia by 7.000 hungarians, and Wallachia has been besieged by 4.000 men of the remaining Siebenburgen army. But good news are coming! Venice brings 7.000 men from Corfu, 6.000 Moldavians just left Bujak , and 12.500 mercenaries hired by me started sieging Croatia toghether with 3.000 venetians.
That`s all the good news, because Duchy of Athens, in Alliance with Papal States and Tuscany declared war on me..... My 4 -ships fleet cannot take out the 16 warships of Tuscany..... and 8.000 greeks started sieging Albania..... Unfortunately, Moldavia didn`t joined the war on my side....... But Venice did, and I hope it`s 50 ships fleet led by P.Loredan can dispatch the italians. Of course it can, but land armies can`t...... a mixed papal-toscan army, of 11.000 men started sieging Veneto.
Finaly, good news, Siebenburgen has been annexed by me, and I got an extra 3.000 men ...... which were killed almost immediately, lowering the war score..... The Moldavians were almost defeated in their own capital, Albania was conquered by greeks, and Croatians took back their capital...... Venice was being chopped off by Bohemians and italians, Hungary was almost unscrapped...... I had no chance to win that war...... didn`t I? An alliance could save me..... but with whom I have good relations? The best are with Austria, +79...... A state gift made them be +181, so I had to wait another month before inviting them. Two days before I could call them as allies, I realised I was dumber than a mouse: They were already in another alliance!, togheter with Bavaria, Cologne and Mechlemburg! But what`s worse, the ottomans just annexed Byzantium, and declared war against me! Venice left me alone, so I tried my chance , to enter the Austrian alliance....... AND IT WORKED!!!!!! !!!!
The Austrian Alliance joined me in all the wars: against Hungary, Croatia, Bohemia, Luxembourgh, Tuscany, Papal States, Duchy of Athens, Ottoman Empire and.....Pskov???? What are these guys.... nevermind.
I`m just gonna skip a bit these wars. The final result: Luxembourgh annexed Cologne
, Bohemia gave Austria 28 ducats, Venice lost Istria to Tuscany, I lost Albania to Duchy of Athens, Moldavia gave 109 ducats to Hungary , I lost all my armies, except my 4-ships fleet, and Moldova entered the Austrian alliance too, immediately after Cologne was Annexed. Also, Mecklemburg had 68.000 men stationed in their province. If I would own all the Europe, I would still be afraid to declare war to them......
Being in a big Alliance, I wanted to give it some action ( yes, I`m a bit schizophrenic about battles everywhere
)
I declared war on the so called " Southen Europe Alliance" : Aragorn, Naples, Genoa and Holstein ( I know, this one isn`t in southern Europe, but Mecklemburg will take care of them).
So, I send 4.000 men with my ships to the Genoan holdings in Crimeea, and incrsase the number of units in all provinces.
Five stacks of men defeated the garrison in Kaffa, then they went to Kerch.
Mecklemburg just annexed Holstein - predictable, and they are now fending off the Aragonese raids from The Sund. Austria and Bavaria are making short incursions in Naples and Genoa, and I started building a fleet good enough for some small future wars. Immediately after I conquer both the genoan provinces in Crimeea, The Knights join Aragon`s side. Luckily, their army is depleted after a war against Karaman and Teke, and their only province, Rhodes, has a small fort. 14.000 men in my 25 warships are enough, and they get annexed quickly - by me. After a few strange situations , The war ended good for my alliance. I received Rhodes, Kerch and , Kaffa, Mechlemburg got Holstein and (!!!) Corsica, Austria received 19 ducats ( ) , and 19.000 moldavians are suffering from attrition in Serbia .Also, my fleet shrinked to 17 warchips, after a few battles against the Aragonese Fleet.
My territory looks strange now : Wallachia, Kosovo, Ragusa, Bosnia,Transylvania, Rhodes, Kerch Kaffa. I was in an Europeen-wide Alliance, and I thought I was unbeatable...... Until Ottomans diplo-annexed Tunisia and Karaman, millitay-annexed Dulkadir and Candar, and declared war against me, in Alliance with Ak Koyunlu and Granada. All my allies joined the war. After a long and bloody struggle, I took Dobrudja ( the real name of the province is Dobrogea, you morons!), Rumelia and Bulgaria, while Mecklemburg got Gibraltar from Granada. Moldova started a siege in Thrace, but they were expelled quickly by a big turkish army. Nevermind, the Mameluks, allied with Aden and The Hedjaz declared war on the Ottos, and Ak Koyunlu declared war on Georgia, so the turks left me Dobrudja and Rumelia.
I reorganised my armies, and took a harsh decision : declare war on the Hungarian alliance again. Moldavia miraculously joined the war, but Mecklemburg left the alliance, but Austria compensated the loss quickly by inviting ......... Venice! My old friends, the venetians, joined the war! But another group of countries was at war with the hungarians, and the group also declared war on us! It was kinda.... 3 factions against each other:
Group 1: Wallachia, Moldavia, Venice, Austria, Bavaria
Group 2: Hungary, Croatia, Luxembourg, Bohemia
Group 3: Helvetia, Tuscany, Modena, Papal States, Duchy of Athens
Yes, the greeks started showing their theeth. They were controlling Morea, Hellas, Albania and , strangely, Pskov. What`s going on with this world, people?
The three factions started annihilating each other`s armies. I went with my ships against Tuscany, and annexed it. I took Albania back, while Venice took Pskov from the greeks. Austria barely rezisted the swiss , italian and hungarian attacks, but they were backed up by 38.000 bavarians. Baden joined the wars on the same side as Hungary, and was crushed and annexed by Helvetia. Venice annexed Modena and took Romagna from the Pope. Meanwhile, I did everything possible to improve my relations with Moldavia, so I could diplo-annex them. A big Hunagrian-bohemian army started rampaging through Austria and crushed the Bavarians and a few helvetians and rebels, while i was taking Marche from the Pope and Banat, Maros & Ruthenia from Hungary.
Finnaly, when peace was announced between the three factions, the situation was like this : Faction 1: I got Tuscany ,Marche, Albania, Banat and Maros, Moldavia got 14 ducats, Venice took Romagna, Pskov, Krain and Istria back from Tuscany, Austria got Baden, Bavaria took 300 ducats.
Faction 2 : Hungary lost Banat and Maros, Croatia lost Krain, Luxembourg got 2 ducats, Bohemia accepted a white peace.
Faction 3: Helvetia got white peace, Tuscany got chopped off and annexed, Modena gave Moldavia 100 ducats, Papal Statea remained only with their capital, Duchy of Athens remained with Hellas and Morea.
So, my alliance went victorious, the hungarians got a bit scraped this time, and the swisstalian greeks received a heavy blow.
I planned for ten years of peace, while I was improving relations with everyone in the alliance.
My goals: Diplo-annex Moldavia, expell the turks and greeks from the Balkans, crush Hungary, conquer entire Italy, have a world-class army and navy.
Mecklemburg declared war once again against Granada, but since they aren`t in my alliance anymore, that wouldn`t bother me but it did. They annexed Granada, and started a war against the ottomans, and were winning! Taking land from the turks when they are near you is piece of cake, but taking them from a german idiot with possesions in Spain, Corsica, and northern Germany would be harder.
So, I declared war on Mecklemburg and their new allies: Prussia, Tver and England??????
War against England? I got this all wrong! They will crush me, and they will . Wait, what are 20.000 frenchmen doing near the newly-conquered London? And why 14.000 scottish guys led by Buchan Douglas were sieging Wales? England was a total mess, Mecklemburg was dissorganised and turks were sieging Corsica, Prussia was in a war against Poland, Lithuania and Brandenburg, and Tver was being sieged by Muscovy. This is going to be easy
After many intresting turns of situations, Mecklemburg reorganised and started a heavy offensive against all the countries she was at war with . And there wasn`t only my alliance against Mekie : the Ottoman Empire, Castille, Portugal, Sweeden, Denmark, Poland, Lithuania, Scotland, France and Genoa were all against the strange alliance made of Meckie, England and Prussia.
On with the sieges! Ottoman Empire declared war once again! One by one, Thrace, Macedonia, Smyrna, Antalya, Kastamonu and Adana were conquered by Wallachian forces, while Corsica was taken from Meckie. Venice was sieging Gibraltar and Granada, and the whole Europe was in chaos! Finnaly, after a few sieges , battles and small annexations, I received Macedonia and Smyrna from the turks, Corsica and the newly annexed genoan territory of Liguria from Mecklemburg, and I watched happily the end of the tenth year in which Moldavia is my vassal. All the conditions were met, and I asked them if they want me to rule in their provinces, and they accepted! Moldova, Bujak and Serbia became part of my realm, making my country look more centralised, and freeing a slot in the alliance, which was soon filled by Mainz.
Years and years have passed. Two wars against the Hungarian alliance saw Croatia being annexed by my forces, and another 3 hungarian provinces taken by my alliance: Ruthenia and Carpathia by me and another province whose name I forgot by Venice. Austria took the southermost province of Bohemia for herself, Bavaria took Schwyz from Helvetia, and my greatest accomplishment, I made Venice my vassal. Venice had the following territories: Veneto, Mantua, Istria, Dalmatia, Crete, Corfu, Ionia, Cyprus ( yes, annexation) ,Romagna, Krain, Granada, Gibraltar, Pskov and . Caux???? Anyway, I had even more : Rhodes, Kaffa, Kerch, Bujak, Dobrudja, Rumelia, Smyrna, Macedonia, Albania, Bulgaria, Moldova, Wallachia, Siebenburgen, Serbia, Kosovo, Bosnia, Ragusa, Ruthenia, Carpathia, Banat, Maros, Croatia, Marche, Tuscany, Siena and Corsica. Meanwhile, Mainz annexed The Palatinat and Wurzburg, so my alliance was leading .. or was it? When I looked at the country stats, Wallachia was on the second place . The first one was .. Lithuania! They diplo-annexed Poland, and were currently at war against The Golden Horde, which was losing very fast indeed. When peace was settled between these two eastern super-countries, I intervened! And again, Europe was at war because of me . But since many have been removed from the battlefield, the situation is clearer .. Many german countries annexed each other, others diplo-annexed their neighbours, others became real Europeean empires, like France,Venice, Aragon and even me, Wallachia, while others shrinked to the size of a province or two, like Papal States, Ottoman Empire, Hungary, England, and even Mecklemburg, which has been completely annexed by Sweeden, and Bremen was taken by Portugal. Luckily, this situation wasn`t meant to last too long.
As I said, another Europeen war started. This time, there were 4 factions, all against each other. I will give them strnge names, for everything to look intresting.
Group One: The Carpathian Alliance: Wallachia, Venice, Austria, Bavaria, Mainz.
Group Two: The Eastern Blockade : Lithuania ( with Poland included), Prussia, Sweeden
Group Three: The Western Stars: Castille, Navarra, Portugal, Helvetia
Group Four : The Minor States: Papal States, Hessen, Auvegne, Provence, Eire
There were other minor wars too, like Scotland vs England, Bohemia vs Saxony, Golden Horde vs Muscovy and Vladimir, Aragon vs Burgundy, Ottoman Empire vs Naples, or even Duchy of Athens vs Georgia.
Wars wars I just love wars. Thousands of thousands of men . when I looked at my stats, is said : died in battle : 1075229 men, died of attrition : 319277, disbanded: 1411.
A million people? Only one Million? There are cities in modern day Romania with more people! I haven`t sent enough to death! Go, men! Go, destroy, kill, die for me!
Finnaly, by the end of the1700`s , Venice was my vassal for quite long, and I demanded annexation. Their big but scattered territory became part of my real. With this archievement, I started the REAL bloody wars. I left the alliance only to declare war on it`s members. All my money went into units and stability, and my badboy rating was 871.5/41. Countries were declaring was against me only to find themselves conquered and annexed in less than 6 months. Lithuania has been trashed 4 times already, the whole Italy was in my hands, Hungary and Austria fell under my greatness, Bavaria, Helvetia and Bohemia felt my entire rage, and soon, I was owning everything in Europe except some small regions, like the British isles, Denmark, Eastern Russia, Portugal, the Ottomans` capital and small regions from France and Spain. I had a war against Fez, Marocco, Algiers and the Mameluks, too! Georgia felt my strenght too, and I finnaly took my revenge against the greeks by completely annexing them.
Next time, a story about how did Genoa split Europe in two big parts and how did both parts became part of the realm of the italians.

Group 3: Helvetia, Tuscany, Modena, Papal States, Duchy of Athens
Yes, the greeks started showing their theeth. They were controlling Morea, Hellas, Albania and , strangely, Pskov. What`s going on with this world, people?
The three factions started annihilating each other`s armies. I went with my ships against Tuscany, and annexed it. I took Albania back, while Venice took Pskov from the greeks. Austria barely rezisted the swiss , italian and hungarian attacks, but they were backed up by 38.000 bavarians. Baden joined the wars on the same side as Hungary, and was crushed and annexed by Helvetia. Venice annexed Modena and took Romagna from the Pope. Meanwhile, I did everything possible to improve my relations with Moldavia, so I could diplo-annex them. A big Hunagrian-bohemian army started rampaging through Austria and crushed the Bavarians and a few helvetians and rebels, while i was taking Marche from the Pope and Banat, Maros & Ruthenia from Hungary.
Finnaly, when peace was announced between the three factions, the situation was like this : Faction 1: I got Tuscany ,Marche, Albania, Banat and Maros, Moldavia got 14 ducats, Venice took Romagna, Pskov, Krain and Istria back from Tuscany, Austria got Baden, Bavaria took 300 ducats.
Faction 2 : Hungary lost Banat and Maros, Croatia lost Krain, Luxembourg got 2 ducats, Bohemia accepted a white peace.
Faction 3: Helvetia got white peace, Tuscany got chopped off and annexed, Modena gave Moldavia 100 ducats, Papal Statea remained only with their capital, Duchy of Athens remained with Hellas and Morea.
So, my alliance went victorious, the hungarians got a bit scraped this time, and the swisstalian greeks received a heavy blow.
I planned for ten years of peace, while I was improving relations with everyone in the alliance.
My goals: Diplo-annex Moldavia, expell the turks and greeks from the Balkans, crush Hungary, conquer entire Italy, have a world-class army and navy.
Mecklemburg declared war once again against Granada, but since they aren`t in my alliance anymore, that wouldn`t bother me but it did. They annexed Granada, and started a war against the ottomans, and were winning! Taking land from the turks when they are near you is piece of cake, but taking them from a german idiot with possesions in Spain, Corsica, and northern Germany would be harder.
So, I declared war on Mecklemburg and their new allies: Prussia, Tver and England??????
War against England? I got this all wrong! They will crush me, and they will . Wait, what are 20.000 frenchmen doing near the newly-conquered London? And why 14.000 scottish guys led by Buchan Douglas were sieging Wales? England was a total mess, Mecklemburg was dissorganised and turks were sieging Corsica, Prussia was in a war against Poland, Lithuania and Brandenburg, and Tver was being sieged by Muscovy. This is going to be easy
After many intresting turns of situations, Mecklemburg reorganised and started a heavy offensive against all the countries she was at war with . And there wasn`t only my alliance against Mekie : the Ottoman Empire, Castille, Portugal, Sweeden, Denmark, Poland, Lithuania, Scotland, France and Genoa were all against the strange alliance made of Meckie, England and Prussia.
On with the sieges! Ottoman Empire declared war once again! One by one, Thrace, Macedonia, Smyrna, Antalya, Kastamonu and Adana were conquered by Wallachian forces, while Corsica was taken from Meckie. Venice was sieging Gibraltar and Granada, and the whole Europe was in chaos! Finnaly, after a few sieges , battles and small annexations, I received Macedonia and Smyrna from the turks, Corsica and the newly annexed genoan territory of Liguria from Mecklemburg, and I watched happily the end of the tenth year in which Moldavia is my vassal. All the conditions were met, and I asked them if they want me to rule in their provinces, and they accepted! Moldova, Bujak and Serbia became part of my realm, making my country look more centralised, and freeing a slot in the alliance, which was soon filled by Mainz.
Years and years have passed. Two wars against the Hungarian alliance saw Croatia being annexed by my forces, and another 3 hungarian provinces taken by my alliance: Ruthenia and Carpathia by me and another province whose name I forgot by Venice. Austria took the southermost province of Bohemia for herself, Bavaria took Schwyz from Helvetia, and my greatest accomplishment, I made Venice my vassal. Venice had the following territories: Veneto, Mantua, Istria, Dalmatia, Crete, Corfu, Ionia, Cyprus ( yes, annexation) ,Romagna, Krain, Granada, Gibraltar, Pskov and . Caux???? Anyway, I had even more : Rhodes, Kaffa, Kerch, Bujak, Dobrudja, Rumelia, Smyrna, Macedonia, Albania, Bulgaria, Moldova, Wallachia, Siebenburgen, Serbia, Kosovo, Bosnia, Ragusa, Ruthenia, Carpathia, Banat, Maros, Croatia, Marche, Tuscany, Siena and Corsica. Meanwhile, Mainz annexed The Palatinat and Wurzburg, so my alliance was leading .. or was it? When I looked at the country stats, Wallachia was on the second place . The first one was .. Lithuania! They diplo-annexed Poland, and were currently at war against The Golden Horde, which was losing very fast indeed. When peace was settled between these two eastern super-countries, I intervened! And again, Europe was at war because of me . But since many have been removed from the battlefield, the situation is clearer .. Many german countries annexed each other, others diplo-annexed their neighbours, others became real Europeean empires, like France,Venice, Aragon and even me, Wallachia, while others shrinked to the size of a province or two, like Papal States, Ottoman Empire, Hungary, England, and even Mecklemburg, which has been completely annexed by Sweeden, and Bremen was taken by Portugal. Luckily, this situation wasn`t meant to last too long.
As I said, another Europeen war started. This time, there were 4 factions, all against each other. I will give them strnge names, for everything to look intresting.
Group One: The Carpathian Alliance: Wallachia, Venice, Austria, Bavaria, Mainz.
Group Two: The Eastern Blockade : Lithuania ( with Poland included), Prussia, Sweeden
Group Three: The Western Stars: Castille, Navarra, Portugal, Helvetia
Group Four : The Minor States: Papal States, Hessen, Auvegne, Provence, Eire
There were other minor wars too, like Scotland vs England, Bohemia vs Saxony, Golden Horde vs Muscovy and Vladimir, Aragon vs Burgundy, Ottoman Empire vs Naples, or even Duchy of Athens vs Georgia.
Wars wars I just love wars. Thousands of thousands of men . when I looked at my stats, is said : died in battle : 1075229 men, died of attrition : 319277, disbanded: 1411.
A million people? Only one Million? There are cities in modern day Romania with more people! I haven`t sent enough to death! Go, men! Go, destroy, kill, die for me!
Finnaly, by the end of the1700`s , Venice was my vassal for quite long, and I demanded annexation. Their big but scattered territory became part of my real. With this archievement, I started the REAL bloody wars. I left the alliance only to declare war on it`s members. All my money went into units and stability, and my badboy rating was 871.5/41. Countries were declaring was against me only to find themselves conquered and annexed in less than 6 months. Lithuania has been trashed 4 times already, the whole Italy was in my hands, Hungary and Austria fell under my greatness, Bavaria, Helvetia and Bohemia felt my entire rage, and soon, I was owning everything in Europe except some small regions, like the British isles, Denmark, Eastern Russia, Portugal, the Ottomans` capital and small regions from France and Spain. I had a war against Fez, Marocco, Algiers and the Mameluks, too! Georgia felt my strenght too, and I finnaly took my revenge against the greeks by completely annexing them.
