An idea I had now that Tech Trading is no more...

I know that now you can joint research a technology, but what if they have a technology you really really want and it'll take quite awhile before you can learn it?

Well how about if you're friendly with the civilization they can offer (or you can request) research points so that it will go quicker? That way there's no arbitrary "you are given the secrets of Flight" and automatically learn it and instead it'll be like you are given the secrets but need to understand them fully before you finally learn the tech.

Here's how it could work (and if anyone has some suggestions or different ideas i welcome it):
- the boost could be as large as say 75% of the total turns required to research or as small as 5% (also 0% if they hate your guts/at war/or are just petty).
- You would only get one boost per tech.
- You wouldn't be able to do it multiple times by just asking different civilizations for the same thing (Therefore you can't just keep gaining free points until you finally learn it).
- It would also be pretty difficult to obtain depending on how your relationship is with that civilization (cautious, friendly, etc.) and also what type of tech it is. (Gunpowder, as opposed to Theology for instance.)
- It wouldn't work if that tech has a required prerequisite or prerequisites that you haven't researched yet unless you decide to try and get research points for one of them.
- Also how much of a boost you get would again depend on your relationship with the civilization as well as your own science output.

tl;dr version: Civilization with tech you want -> get research points to add to the research of the desired tech?

What do you think? :)

Yes. However there should be a minimum to how many turns you will have to wait before you can request research points again from ANYONE. Maybe 5 turns sounds good. So if I get some research points from England, I would have to wait 5 turns before I could get research points from any other civ in the game.

Great idea!
