An interesting map (hopefully)

So, I was up late one Friday night, when an idea struck me, an idea that I thought was kind of cool and thus set out to do. Several man-hours of work later, it's essentially finished. "But," says I, "this would go great with the Revolution modpack!" So I set out to make it compatible. Unfortunately, Revolution hates me and everything I love so that did not work out well at all. I think it's all the pre-placed cities.

But anyways! It's an 84x52, or Standard-size map, with 7 civilizations. I've included both Epic and Normal speed versions (Epic provides more gameplay, Normal gets to it faster). I like to think of this as a space-esque Civ4 map. Everyone is placed on an island 'planet' of varying sizes with preset cities (with No City Razing on). Most of these house only one city, but a few house two and 7 (I counted) have three. There are around 60 of these planets, and I'd guess somewhere in the range of 80 cities. Every start has a source of iron, for the later ships (so no one is completely out of the running later in the game).

There's no way to actually reach any other islands until the Renaissance (the beginning of space-faring!), so everyone is essentially stuck at home until then. This is part of why I wanted to make a Revolution version--let's face it, hundreds of turns of basically pressing "End Turn" is going to be boring. Simply giving control to the AI until the Renaissance would be much faster (though I could probably have started the game in the Renaissance...but then I would have had to give every barbarian city more defenders and buildings!). The other reason is to fill the somewhat empty map with new civs, not to mention that areas breaking apart from their former masters would be cool (even better if it only takes half of a planet, for some real action). Unfortunately, as I said, Revolution refused to comply.

For those of you who want an exciting start, there are three civs who have something to deal with right from the start. Isabella starts on a 3-city island with two well-defended barbarians to deal with, not to mention the nuclear fallout from the previous owners (there are a few other areas with uranium and the remains of older civilizations that blew up). Frederick and Peter start on the same island--Peter has horses and iron on his starting city for easier warring, while Frederick has a hill-city surrounded by rivers for easier defending. Whoever wins gets a rather nice planet all to himself (or the two could become the best of friends and split it, not to mention the planets nearby).

In conclusion--any help with making this Revolution-compatible would be nice.

A screenshot has been added. It doesn't show everything (the far north and south is practically invisible, and London can barely be seen), but it works.

Edit: And now it's not taking the map file I put up. Sigh. Time to put up a .zip, I guess I should have done that first.

Edit Mk2: Now the .zip is 'in progress'.

Edit #3: Hmm. The .zip should work now.

Edit #4: Added a bit of info and a Normal speed map. Also, screenshot.

Is it working now? It sounds like a very intriguing scenario!

May I give some suggestions? Concerning the view, here's a thread on it: http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=148598

How long did you wait for the file to upload? Is there anymore info you could give us to solve the problem?

But I have no idea how to make it compatible with the Revolution Mod. I'm find without it though...

May I ask how many civs and what's the size of the map?

The file has finally been uploaded. I guess I wasn't patient enough :D

@flying camera view: Interesting. I'll hopefully have a screenshot up soon.

Also, Revolution still hates the map it seems. I might get working on it soon, but for now I think I'll take a break.
