Anyone also got these mysterious messages via the notification queue?

I got my first one around Turn 50 or so I think. The notification just said, "Defeated! An unmet player has been defeated." Then by Turn 80, I saw my third one.

This was on a Stadnard map, on Prince difficulty. I don't think I like the prospect of almost a third of the AI players defeated by Turn 80...but I can't find any other explanation for these messages.

So anyone know what these are actually about?

Early reports are that the message appears for city-states that have been taken as well as civs

Ah, that makes sense. I did have Sumeria put down Congo in the Ancient age, though.

I suspect barbarians might have a hand in these early annihilations as well.
