How do you figure out how long anarchy is gonna last before you decide to switch goverments? Is there a formula or is it just random? I have Conquests 1.22 if that helps.

It's somewhat random. The larger your empire is, though, the longer Anarchy tends to be. Religious civs always get two-turn Anarchy.

I dont' think that is always true. I have had small civs have 7 turn anarchy's before. And I had a civ that was 70 cities once and decided to switch goverments and it only lasted 4 turns. I guess it really is random. What really sucks is I forgot to turn off "Show Civil Disorder Popups" with the 80 city civilization. One of the longest turns I ever seen...

Don't know the exact figures, but I think it's something like:
1 - 3 turns are decided upon empire size
1 - 5 turns are just random

I know for sure that it is not calculated like that, but it is something similar. It is not totally random :)
2 turn? Don't you mean 1 turn?

With Conquests, it is 2 turns. Buy it :p

I said "tends" -- A larger civilization can get a shorter Anarchy period than a smaller cvilization, but the reverse is more likely.

I guess it depends om map size too. 8 cities on a tiny probably wouldn't give the same amount of turns as 8 on a huge map. Just likie corruption.

As i've said before, on conquests on emperor I got a one turn reveloution without being religious!

I've never had this happen but I have had 9 turns of anarchy before which I think is the maximum you can get.

I think there is a bonus for golden age also. I noticed I switched gov'ts in my last game during GA, it only took one turn.
I might start testing this on all my games. Hit GA, save, revolt, count and reload to get on w/ my game....

I would say that for Rel civs that in C3C they get one turn of Anarchy and before that they didn't have any turns for anarchy. That is from the turn play perpective, because you get tech just before your next turn and then you'll go to anarchy. Technically it 2 and 1 respectively because the anarchy is back dated so that the turn before your discovery is the turn of anarchy. When you are playing it does seem like only 1 or none. It just depends on how you view it. Generally when I play, I get a 5 turn or is six turn anarchy. I hope I am right about the explainations of anarchy.

I have seen the same thing! It was only once that I revolted during my golden age and in this one occasion the anarchy lasted only one turn. Could be a (more or less) exploit to time your revolt.
