Are there any mods that allow me to play as ancient Israel, that also give me unlimited time and locks the era as ancient. I played civ iii a long time ago when I was young and I gave up because it was too difficult for me. I recently bought a digital version of civ iii complete off of impulse and I am eager to play some user friendly mods from the above criteria. also i need to know how to install mods, I downloaded CCM and Heritic Cata's All in One mod, but I have no idea how it is installed. Also, if there is a helpful guide or video guide to help me play civ iii I'd like to know. I vaguely remember losing every game in civ iii because I was unable to acquire needed resources such as metals.

CCM has Israel in it, so you can play them. No locked ages though. You can set the time in III to 1000 turns, should be enough for anyone. If not you can play forever, but the victory stops.

You just unzip the mod into the scenario folder. Move the biq to the scenario folder, but not in the CCM folder. To start a game select from civ content.

Welcome at CFC imperiumiv. :band:[party]

At the first page of the CCM thread at CFC I posted an image how CCM should be installed:

In CCM you can start as Israel in 4000 BC with some special units and wonders in the game. The leaders for Israel are: Era 1-3: David, era 4: Sharon and Israel in CCM has its own religion.

can't i just edit something so the era is locked? I bought this game BECAUSE i thought I could lock the era. I hate going from cavemen to space travel. I just want the bronze and iron ages. 1400-600 BC.

You can start with C3C in later eras but for freezing it in era 1 (or 2) all later setings must be deleted. There exist some C3C mods that focus on era 1 or/and two, but I don´t know if these mods contain Israel.

Edited: Here is a mod that could do it for you: http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=100287

Never tried modding, so this may not be correct, I would think you could go to Chiv and add a requirement for a tech in the last age. This would stop you from ever researching Chiv. If you have barbs I would expect that you could pop that tech and go to the next age.

Otherwise you will never research Chiv and be stuck in the AA. If you want chiv in the game, make the first tier techs in the next age require a tech they cannot get.

Just a guess, but I would copy the conquest biq. Use the editor and go to Civ advances. Find the last tech and add a tech in the drop down that is for a later age.

You could also make the tech cost as high as it will go. That would make the research take a very long time.

I'm not sure how to do this. could you please give me more details?

You might want to go to the Creation and Customization Forum for questions about how to lock the game in the Ancient Era. I believe that it would be possible, but I would have to check the editor on some of the settings to be sure.

There is an Israeli Civ you can dl and put into a game. I would think the easiest way to stay ancient would be to change the dates to 1 year per turn with the changes that vmxa suggested.

The link you provided goes to a Civ IV download, though.

Your simplest way to lock the era is simply make all of the units past the Ancient Age non-buildable by any civilization. To do that, go to the editor, and make of the post-Ancient Age units unbuildable by any civilizations. You might may an exception to the caravel/carrack/galleon, so as to allow for ocean travel.

You might also need an modification to the rules to allow for some Ancient Age unit to be amphibious, otherwise, single tile islands cities are going to be invulnerable to attack.

After that, it is simply a matter of modifying the tech tree to eliminate any effects of Advances that you do not want. That should pretty much do all of what you want. You could use TeTurKhan's Test of Time scenario that comes with Civilization Play the World and Complete as a starting point, as that already has Israel in the game.

"You might may an exception to the caravel/carrack/galleon, so as to allow for ocean travel."

It is the tech not the unit that allows sea/ocean travel

But it takes the units to make use of the techs. You don't want to waste time on a 2 move currah for 6,000 years.
