Ancient/Pre-Steam Unit Graphics

Finally got round to compiling my Renaissance units covering the end of the 100 Years War, the War of the Roses, the Burgundian-Swiss Confederation war, the Italian Wars and later Habsburg-Valois conflict

May I ask how could I implement the units graphic at right-down corner (those bannermen) into the game?

I use the guys with the flags in another game I mod, Field of Glory which doesn't have the height restrictions ToT does. In fact all of these units were drawn for FoG, so it made sense to keep them together for my own reference when posting the compilation here. Sadly it is a bit too much of a squeeze to get the flag-bearers to fit into a ToT unit slot..

Oh, thanks for your quick reply! May I ask do you also release your mods for Field of Glory? If you do could you share a link? I'm very interested in FoG mods using your graphics :goodjob:

I mean, mods for Field of Glory, not just the unit graphics.

Medieval Burmese, from the foundation of the kingdom of Pyu (c. 500 AD), until its destruction by the Nan-chao in 832 AD, then from the founding of the kingdoms of Pagan and Pegu (849 AD). through Pagan's overthrow by the Yuan dynasty Mongols and the start of King Talbinslnweti campaigns of reunification (1526 AD). Before the unification of Burma by King Anawrahta (1044 - 1077 AD), Burmese armies were of infantry with only a few elephants. Anawrarhta shifted the emphasis to massed elephants. Burmese elephants are described by Marco Polo as having 12 or 16 crew (!). The most probable explanation comes from an Indian source which describes Indian elephants as having 2 crew, the rest being escorts on foot. The guard were established by King Narapatisithu (1173 - 1210 AD) and are described as wearing gilt helmets and a thickly quilted jacket of cotton.

Fix for the elephant crew helmet. The guard were also depicted in art armed with sword and shield.

Ok here you go. Bear in mind that firstly this is the original Field of Glory which used 2D sprites for units and NOT FoG 2 which uses 3D units, and secondly it is not comprehensive. I think I replaced most ancient and renaissance units and never replaced the medieval units.

Here's my first Civ 2 unit graphics:

Not something very original, just some recolour, recombination, and small adjustments on Fairline's fatastic graphics.

The first row are foot knights in Maximilian armour, with new pollaxe weapon graphic, and some with "skirt" which is popular in early 16th century.
The second and third row are some landsknechts. When playing civ2units' The Age of Reformation scenario, I want to differentiate the two-handed sword graphics of early and late 16th century soldiers more.

Medieval Khmer (Cambodia) and Champa (central Vietnam), from the invasion of Champa by a Sui Chinese expedition in 605 until the Khmer empire's destruction by the Thais. The Charn used virtually identical troop-types, but seem to have relied more on heavy spearmen and initially less on cavalry and archers than the Khmer. Khmer elephants are depicted with a driver, armed with spear and shield, and a single archer or sometimes spearman. The phkak is a Khmer weapon resembling a hockey stick with an axe blade at right angles to its end (looks like a Dane axe, to hook/ break shields). Spearmen carry either a long or small round shield. Only the Cham used crossbow cavalry and horse archers, from 1170 AD onwards (probably learned about it from the Sung Chinese). The Kaskara-like sword has no crossguard and is based on the Cambodian royal sword type. The Khmer also had an axe-armed maiden guard, probably just for show.
@zwei833 Cool Zweihanders!

Now that you mention it, I believe I've somewhere seen an old black-and-white photo of a younger Norodom Sihanouk ceremonially wielding one of those.

Here are the unit graphics I made when making the "Carolus Invictissimus Extend" scenario. Not all graphic variants are eventually used in the scenario, so I decide to also post them here. It also include updated version of the unit graphic I posted here before.

:woohoo:
Perfect Tanelorn. The two scenarios are (or will be) at your disposal to include all the units you want. I add the All Under Heaven that I have on hand. All the best

You could include 2 units in the cart! I like it.
I include the Zhanguo scenario for ToT, which is not yet very developed, but at least I modified the terrain graphics so that you can play and include the units more comfortably.

@gapetit Back when Poly was still alive, Turno was working on it, I have some of the missing graphics (in mge). I think it is doable.
