Playing Diety level. American. Population 293,000,000. 2400 points. I was attacking the last city of my last rival, when the computer started making strange burny-outy smells and fizzing noises. I tell you that damned AI resented me giving it a whopping so much that it nuked my hard drive!:nuke: :nuke: :nuke: All I have left are memories:cry:

Ouch.

In a rather similar story, I do have one game (my epic France Game that I can't stop bragging about every chance I get--eventually I'm going to write an actual story about it, but you can find a partial and sketchy account of some of it here ) which has, miraculously, survived two harddrive crashes for a little over three years now. I completed it about a year ago and I started it a little over two years before that, and it was only a Warlord-level game, but I still have the final save on a floppy disk because of the fond memories it gave...

Like I said, someday I'll do a more detailed writeup, but some of the details are kinda scratchy nowadays.

OK, this is the last offence from Microprose. Coding an AI that nukes your HD if it loses? Now that's going a little too far.

Fortunately, as described above, I still managed to win :D

(Ooh! "1000 Reasons" post inspiration!)

People, from the 1st chapter of the book of Civilology: And thus the prophet .Comgeek spake; "Save thou thy game to disc or thou shalt be left with ashes in thy hard-drive."
Another thing too: when I opened the casing up I discovered an AI tank unit jammed in the cooling fan - a last, desperate gasp from an AI which didn't want to lose.;)
