Annoying Occupation Titles

That would be, "Minister for Women and Other Alien Races" thank you very much!

I am quite proud of that title and do not look favorably upon what looks very much like a slight on it.

Your name is now on The List. Looking over your shoulder will do you no good.

The worst new construction in politics is the famed "issues manager."

An issues manager is someone who gets in between the policy types and the communications types and shuffles paper between them. But "issues management" sounds so much more chic.

And P.S....
The student councils up here in the Great White North were all medium sized corporations with huge cash flow and dozens of businesses or services. I was a "Director of Communications" at one, made $24g CDN and worked with five other execs and roughly 200 employees. It's quite the racket.

You yanks (if that's what you are) just haven't protested enough; that's how the gravy train started. University administrations gave student unions all sorts of taxing power to keep student leaders fighting about student centre expansion instead of occupying their offices.

"The student leaders of today, are the student leaders of tomorrow."
JFK, speaking to a convention of student leaders.

I'm a "developing unit of a middle-class socioeconomic environment.."

Or...well, unemployed student :goodjob:

I'm not a Bartender, I'm a Bar...MAN.

Social Chemist?????

WTH???

What idiot came up with that? All they use is ethanol.

A person truly deserving of that title is a drug dealer.

What's the deal with Women officers? We have one of them at my college. What does she do for woman that none of the other student officers do? What can she do for woman that I, as a man, cannot have done for me?

This leads to two possibilities:
Her position is a waste of money.
I am being discriminated against.

A third possibility is that the feminist movement achieved it's aims and the leaders of it had to find something else to fill their time with.

I don't know about Europe, but US colleges used to have a position called the "Dean of Men". This was back when most colleges had only male students. His job was basically to help the students with the problems that they faced in college life, both academic and social. Many colleges have re-named the title to "Dean of Students" today.

But let's face it, men and women sometimes face different sorts of problems and might be more comfortable relating them to someone of the same sex. Perhaps having such a position for both men and women would be helpful to everyone.

Don't you mean that you have accepted an unfunded research position to determine the effects of unemployment on youth in 'middle-America'?

a friend of mine is a "Sales Respresentativse Executive Assistant". English title in Germany

That is like Mercedes calling someon working in the US a "Stellvertretender Gruppenleiter Verkaufsvertretung".... noone even gets the words, much less the meaning (which is zip anyways)

he is essentially the gofer for 6 guy who studied marketing but do't know **** about it... actually, he earns more (same pay + lots of overtime + bonus pay of around $500 a month for individual achievements  )

I work in local govt., so I see silly titles all the time.

Ours are called 'Information Assistants'.

As long as you know I'm superior to you, I don't care what you call me...

...:D

no man its just the pretty and well taken care of cost more money and only go to rich guys. They only do work for the high class.

'Customer Sevice Specialist' for someone with a Bachelor's working in a call center.......all the ones with a measly Associates were just 'Customer Service Representatives' ha ha ha..that was at my old job. They had loads of stupid titles there..'Team Leader' is my least favorite..isn't it the same as Supervisor??

That's rubbish too. The very nature of the job is such that the highest bidder wins, regardless of whether they are high class or not. If some tramp were to win the lottery then these professionals would not be put off him just because he wasn't high class. The large wad of dollars brooks no argument whatsoever.
The job title should therefore be expensive prostitute (or call girl, or whatever) because at least this has the right adjectival form. Gramatically, the high class in "high class call girl" refers to her being high class and not her customers. But if you're a call girl then you're not high class. Expensive call girl means that you are limiting your clientele. :)
