Ansar01-the slow-moving idiots

I intend to disband all boatsies because they circumvent the slow moving variant in transporting troops.

@SW: Xenophobic AW would almost directly mean 20K. Not moving outside borders is wicked sick.
Edit: you'd need an amendment of the "can only move outside borders to land an attack, cannot end turn in enemies' land without having attacked" sort. Even then it would be really bad.

thanks all for a great game, and for a first SG, this didnt turn out too bad. :)

and I'd like to thank soul for coming up with the variant. we couldnt do it in your SG, but it seems the Dutch were slow enough to get a grip. :hammer: :goodjob:

About the variant, never been xenophobic, so maybe. You would have to explain the rules first before I agree to any crazy game. :mischief: ;)
 
well, my variant means that:
my twisted xenophobic variant said:

* units will not END movement outside our line. attacking a AI-SoD is a-ok, aslong as we end up in our own land.
* we DO NOT want a 20k win
* we DO WANT a domination win. conquest isfine too, but i dont see us manging it without breeching the borders.
* NO WONDER BUILDING on our part.
* if we manage a 100k (not likely) all the better :D

so settings will be something like:
pangea, 60% water, standard size or less.
weather is immaterial.
our civ - dont really care
ai - same
barbs - none or raging, depending on what we feel like.

strategy: confused:
we will need LOTS of temples, raxs and troops.
govermnets: despot or feud for poprushing stuff? monarchy for cashing it?
science: hold research when we get to knights.
we will probably not need any fast movers, but LOTS of cats.

so how about it?
do we have a basic roster before i start a formal thread looking for more players?

i justgave this a test run.
i played india, had a nice start too.
its a crushing game (and me testing this on monarch, too)

i think the variant would be easier as:

just delete the AW part.
we will be Xenophobic
we will try for a dom or 100k win.
otherwise....

If you allow town captures, I suggest playing Arabia: 3 movements ansars make it possible to move-attack-retreat home without breaking the variant. You totally lose the EXP trait but the ansars are worth it in these conditions, and you wouldn't want china's non-REL.

Will probably sit it out though.
