I'm not a beginner (I've have Civ2 since it came out!), but I haven't played in a while, and I'd have to unlearn Civ3.

There are many very good instructions on tactics and the basics of the game on Civfanatics in the War Academy. I'd say you don't need a master, it's much more fun just to learn by experience and practice.

That's right, and if more advice is needed, then look in the strategy section, and ask your questions.

Share the feeling. Only been playing since Xmas. Sometimes I feel like a true "Stranger in a Strange Land." My most important discovery? Just have fun and don't worry about it. It's all kewl

Yeah, learning through experience and practice, through just playing it that is, is much more fun than reading what other people do. After all it's a game, not nuclear physics.

Not so sure about that. Reading what other people do helps to understand different ways of playing and it's fun helping other players.

Of course you need to learn through experience and practice, but it gets so much easier when someone else has already done it and can give you tips on the way. I wouldn't be as good as I am today without the help of CFC
So play as much as you like, and if you get stuck on the way there are allways people to help you.

I am also a beginner. I started playing about 6 months ago. Still cant handle diety, and am currently struggling with emporer. It is like all of the AI gets together and gangs up on me. All I want to do is rule the world, but they wont let me.
