I've played all the Civs, but mostly have stuck to Civ4 BTS for the last lol decade probably and anyway I've been getting more and more into Civ6 lately, but I really do find the Civ4 combat system to be far superior even with it's flaws. Obviously Civ6 isn't Civ4, but I was wondering is anyone would be able to suggest a good mod that will provide some more depth to the combat system. Thanks.

There’s a mod called Combat and Stacking Overhaul, which can be downloaded on this site.

The mod is great and I use it all the time. The mod allows you to stack ranged/siege units with melee/cavalry units, which means you can protect your archers. Second, all ranged units now have 1 range instead of 2.

This actually helps the game a bit in my view. Battles are less clogged (since you can stack units) and you can move units into hexes that would’ve otherwise been occupied.

I’d take a look at this mod. It adds on the 1 unit per tile but not to the point of ‘stacks of doom.’

Thank you! This sounds exactly like what I was looking for. I'm going to check it out now.

No problem. I should mention that it doesn’t allow for stacks of doom like in Civ 4.

Does the AI use the stacking as well? (Before I go digging for a mod, since im not at home)

Quo's combined tweaks mod, in addition to balancing countless parts of the game in need of touch-ups, speeds up combat greatly with more sensical movement bonuses along with letting most units move and ranged attack on the same turn. The AI seems to take to it much better than vanilla, making warfare more exciting and engaging overall.
