Iam at the 1000AD way behind in the wonders race and have 5-6 civs that are 5 or 6 techs in front and will not trade with me unless i give them everything they have city sizes of around 45,same size armys so a war would be tough, iam playing as the roman and have set the legions to A 12/D 25 /M 1 which has given my half a chance so far.also the pollution has already started iam losing 3 tiles per turn and i have not even got railroads, factorys etc yet,iam based on an island.
iam not in trouble yet but i havent had a major war yet,
i fear the future

Whoa. I must be doing something wrong, cause those numbers are freaky... good luck bud, hope one of the pros can help you.

I'm sorta interested myself...

Wait, lemme get this straight. Your army is about the same size, but you fear it will turn ugly if you do go to war?

You have a 12/25/1 units that you get with Iron Working and you havn't been to war yet??

Load those unstoppable Legions on a boat & go kill someone.

 12/25/1 Legions?

You should have won by conquest by now.

That doesn't help, but this will:

If pollution is a problem, build more workers! You probably don't have enough.

yes i should of made there movement more than 1,also the pollution is due to there over sized citys and i noticed they dont clear up the pollution.
iam waiting for railroad before i attack as it takes me up to 10 turns to move a legion from my capital to the greek border.
i may start again just to change the movement rate.
thanks for all the advice

Ainwood was being sarcastic.

You have a freaking unstoppable unit that comes with Iron Working and costs 30 shields. It doesn't matter if its move is 1, no one can touch them.

5 of them should be enough to take out every civ.

It doesn't matter whether you have rails when you attack. All you need is iron. ;)

I doubt even if the AI knew how to use artillery, on beyond sid, you could lose. (Unless you have no iron)

Its strange that you have created a super unit and then not bothered to use it until a period of the game where its attack value will no longer be unstoppable...

well i went to war with the greeks + friends and it cost me over 50 units, they were meant to be to save my citys as i didnt know what was going to happen on this new level for me,ive since gone back to the editer.

The best advice I could give you would be to remove your improved unit and play at a lower level where you can get used to actually playing the game. Having a modern unit in the first age surely unbalanced the game.
