Does anyone know whether the firaxians improved the trading features, especially these connected with the AI?

 What annoys me most in Civ3, as far as trade is concerned, is that AI never bargains its cities, except to negotiate peace.

 Another feature that also annoys me is the fact that AI are not keen on loan bargains. AI will never borrow you money, while if you volunteer to give a poor AI a lump sum of gold under the condition it be will returned in gpt (with a slight increase of 5-10% of course), the AI never accepts the deal, irrespective of whether it is in terrible need of the money (e.g. if it conducting a costy war). I find this silly.

 Another silly trading feature is that powerfull civs, gracious to you, never make the step forward to provide you with techs. Unlike Civ2 where an out-tech civ could easily catch up with other players, if it had a good and advanced ally, in Civ3 this is impossible.

So my point is: Is anything known around cIV trading features? (I'm not referring to the tradability of resources)

1) This is due to the fact that it opened much space for exploits (moving your troops out of the town, selling it for much money, then taking it back)
2) I think, the reason for this is similar as for the one above. Seems to be difficult to make the AI learn when it will pay off to accept such a trade. In fact, even most people don't realize when it will be more lucrative to raise a credit or to save and wait
3) Why should a more advanced nation grant you a costly tech? The human player would only do so to make another nation survive against a superior one. We will have to wait for an AI deserving the noun "intelligence", before we will see this work properly.

I hate how they never take gpt deals as nearly equal to lump sum
On my current game the ai would never trade me anything for gpt because I made one stupid mistake in the ancient age that killed my rep (declaring war inside enemy borders)
I can't even get 1 gpt for everything I have, excluding cities (which they will never accept once you put one up)
