Returning Civ7 features: like and dislikes

Returning features I like:
- Happiness / City Cap
Really I'm just happy to see some downside to endless expansion

- Influence
It's more useful than Diplo currency from Civ6, which you could ignore or sell off at no risk, and it's better than Envoy / Civ5 influence in that it has more than one use, and you can use it on other players. So it seems actually useful.

- Ideology
Sorely missed; although I hope it has a feature where Ideology applies pressure and friction between opposing players. I'm murky on if that's the case.

Returning features I dislike:
- Agendas
I refuse to say that the random-ish agendas are good. Oh you have cities on hills? I dislike you. Come on, not only is that non-sensical, it feels trivial and unavoidable in some situations.
I wish we have truly distinct AI in this game, because once they all play the same, it makes no difference who you end up playing with in a PvE game, which is kind of sad.

Features that should return:
- World Congress
This is a given, but just to be clear, not Civ6 WC. I hope with the time, money, and potential success of Civ7, they can channel it into really well designed mechanics.
My suggestion for this is a basis of Civ5 WC, but perhaps the votes are paid with the new Influence. Also, it would be nice to see new features in the WC itself, like situational Vetos. Civ6 Emergencies were also cool.

What about you guys?

I think it's wrong to dissect the game by features. A feature with the same name and even with the same core mechanics could work totally different in games, depending on the rest of the mechanics.
Well I'm not sure, in principal I agree but forums are always talking about how they dislike the returning Religion system for example. So I'm curious about people's opinions :)

I'm hoping agendas will be less of a pain this time. Afaik the secret mystery agendas are gone which is good, and we'll see how much of an impact agendas will have overall relations. A lot of them seem to be about very minor things, so fingers crossed they won't constantly be upset at me for not having enough resources in my towns or whatever.

I really like most of what I see, but here are some franchise mechanics I do not:

I've disliked the dumb World Congress in every iteration it was in - I hope it doesn't come back even though it I suspect they may tie it into the influence system.

Religion - I greatly dislike the "dudes on a map" implementation and wish it were either removed or returned to abstracted pressure and spread.

Immutable ideologies - I don't see why our ideology (or government for that matter) have to be permanent, it irks me to no end.

Problem with the Civ 6 world Congress was that it was too much RNG and non impactful and it appeared too soon
Like ban luxury X or improve combat on Y or religious strength on Z.

If they can make it much more interesting but restrict it to Modern age it can come back for me.
At the very least you should be able to pick proposals for the WC to vote on and not get presented with some irrelevant choices

Since it’s tied to the Ages personally think it’s good that you just can’t switch your government all the time. Makes it more strategic
And after the age transition you can choose a new one

There's always been a cost to changing your government when you could in the past, making it a choice you had to carefully consider.

This is my answer to the topic’s question. Don’t like religious units at all.

With all the considerations the devs did for streamlining, it’s downright perplexing to me that missionaries are back as the main conduit for religion. I was hoping for a decidedly “unit-less” approach.

I don't like that civ switching ages thing. I liked choosing my civ at the start and building it up. It feels like they iterated the Stand the Test Of Time feature to death. Its no longer "Civ" to me.
