Anyone ever heard of 'Neptunes Pride'?

In my search for a current space strat game with multiplayer ability, I came across one called 'Neptunes Pride'. It has some good write-ups in regards to it, and it seems to be a very deliberate, slow paced space strat game (i.e. sometimes travel from system to system can take 10 hours or more, games can take several weeks to resolve). Its more of a grand strategy type of game instead of a tactical kind of game involving a lot of planned ahead moves and diplomacy.

The down side is although the website says 'play for free' it seems to also have some type of odd credit purchase system to play games as well. Not sure what that is about and was wondering if anyone had any experience with this particular game and fee model (if there is actually a fee at all?).

If it's anything like Ikarim or Tribal Wars, then it's a fun game, but there are groups of jerkasses who attack everyone that they aren't allied with, which pretty much ruins the game for anyone who doesn't play 24/7.

No, it's more like they just attack you for the hell of it. No strategy involved, it's just attack, attack, attack.

By synchronising when you play one of the "free" games, you can actually get it so its all CFCers.

Using #NES (or any chat room you like) we coordinated a launch, so its all people you know. A much more fun game. We are only a few days into this game.

You CAN'T jsut attack for the hell of it. Fleets take a long time to build, to attack.. if you just randomly attacked you would soon be dog-piled and killed.

Anyone interested in all being on #fiftychat or something at a certain point so we can all enter a game at the same time? We only need 8 interested players and we could have a game all to ourselves...

We've been running a series of NESer games. In the first one, the winner was Luckymoose and two non-CFCers, in the second one the leaders are myself, Luckymoose and qoou, with Tuxedohamm about to get eaten alive. The third game is... still ongoing.

I played a game with a few NESers. I pretty much got stomped, but it was my first game and I was more focused on learning mechanics so I didn't feel too bad about it. It was still fun and I recommend it. I'll probably join in on another some time.

The first two nations are starting to get "stomped" in my first NESer game.. I am glad it is not me.. but I kinda guess that is more to luck and the fast some players went A.I. than anything.


I am second for stars in my second ever game against randoms.. but I worry that the player next to me is BIG and could easily turn this around...

For the record, Matt0088 went AI because he gave up after he lost a ton of fleets attacking me and Thlayli started invading him on another front.

He got better, and remains alive today thanks to Thlayli's backstabbery of myself before we completed Matt's destruction.

Yessir. I didn't bother to relog in for awhile after Iggy had a open door the size of a barn to completely kill me with a pair of 20+ fleets (at that point) against absolutely nothing of mine (<10 ships), and combined with inadvertently attacking/getting attacked by both Nutra and Thlayli, I didn't bother even taking the time to micro my 100 ships around to live a couple days longer. Low and behold I check in 6 days later and I have three stars left and all my previous attackers where attacking each other. That being said, I did just win my first game today. (So I'm 1 outa 4 so far.)
