I am working on a mod XML editor and I am ready to being testing with Beyond the Sword. I have the expansion. However, some people who wish to mod BtS may have the "Complete" edition (which I have heard about but not actually seen) which if it is like the "Gold" edition has a different set of registry keys.
If you have a few minutes (that is all it will take), are comfortable with going into regedit, and would like to do me a quick favor please follow the following instructions to obtain some information I need:
NOTE: PLEASE DO NOT MODIFY ANYTHING... just follow these directions to find what I am need... Modifying the registry can have unpredictable side effects in windows and installed programs unless you know what you are doing... and even then!
1. Open regedit using the run dialog or the "search programs and files" box at the bottom of the start menu
2. To open a key you simply hit the plus sign or the arrow next to it so that it opens the "folder" structure.
3. Open "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE"
4. Open "SOFTWARE"
5. If you have a 64 bit version of windows open "Wow6432Node" If not, don't worry about this step.
6. Open "Firaxis Games"
7. Please let me know what "Folders" in this "folder' (actually a database node) and see if you can find one that has "Beyond the Sword" and "Warlords" in its title. It is probably located something like "Civilization IV Complete" or something like that.
Please let me know all the folders and subfolders within the Firaxis key that are related to Civ IV.
Thanks! It would be MUCH appreciated (as much by me as others who are interested in using this utility).
