Anyone having problems with 'false disk image' when the darn thing is in the drive?

I seem to have a problem with the game exiting to desktop without a save, occasionally due to it claiming that it has a false disk image. It's actually some kind of windows.dll that it cites when it fails. Funny thing is, I never take the disk out. Funny thing also is that it's not permament. I can reload the game and play some more.

I'm guessing this is a SecuRom conflict with my AV (Kaspersky). I'll have to look and see if active protection is blocking modification/access to that .dll which I'm guessing Spore likes to periodically peek at/modify as authentication/anti-piracy protection.

Anyone else ever get this problem?

Hmm yeah, my DVD hasn't been used since install. Its supposed to be the upside to all the DRM business. It seems very strange that it could crash your game if its not supposed to read anything from it ever!?

That is right surprisingly. with all the Hype about the DRM,no need to have the disk in order to play Spore?
EA could have just set something to detect the game disk =if no disk =no play of Spore.

Well, since such CD checks can be cracked easily, they wanted to go for the troublesome online activation method... which was easy to crack too  And now all the honest buyers like myself have to live with it, while the pirates can play DRM free
