Mine is 9800se. It locks up after game loading for any huge maps.
I got many players' complains in another forum those have ATI cards.
I want to confirm if it is a problem for all ATI cards.

Yup. I have a 256MB Radeon x600 card with HyperMemory, 1GB RAM. I tested it against a Huge map size, fully revealed, 12 civs in 2000AD, and placed cities and units randomly everywhere with the Map Editer. I put the graphics settings down to medium, though. Render quality was high, globe quality was low, and I turned off anti-aliasing.
Lag?
Oh yeah. Turns took about three seconds to complete, I got about 15-20fps zoomed in, and about 10-15fps at the global view. Better than the problems I've heard some people are having. Still, I'm more than happy to see the game playing smoothly (no CTDs ) on a Large map, 5+ civs, and on high gfx settings. Good luck, and may the patch be released soon.
Radeon 9800 XT here, running at 11..something, it's big, at 4xAA. Everything's relatively smooth. Smoke's a problem sometimes but not a big deal. Played on the largest map size, never had a problem.
Old Radeon 9200 w/128 MB of memory and old drivers (updated once about 21 months ago) and everything works perfectly so far, although things get a little slow and wheezy as time progresses. I'm sure no expert, but my guess is these performance issues are not directly related to graphic card quality. We sure need a patch to help performance for many of us.
