Anyway to get my monitor brighter?

My monitor has always been dark, not dark that i cannot see, but games have always been darker the other monitors.

Of course i have the the monitor itself set at as bright as possible, and in most games you can adjust the brightness. But now and then there is some idiot game makers who dont have a way to adjust the brightness in the options, which makes many games much harder for me. Now, i seem to have heard, somewhere long time ago, that there was some settings you could change to make it brighter. Any ideas anywhere?

There might be a mode option which allows you to change between separate brightness levels as well as the sliding brightness option like on my monitor...

Look for video card drivers that will load and run in the background. It sounds like your monitor is going out or may have been damaged from the start as most monitors will run very bright at max settings.

I had a similar problem with an old monitor and got some drivers from ATI and was able to tweak the gamma settings in the advanced settings. It would be very dark in DOS still and in windows before the driver prog started up but then it would be just fine. Helped with games too. Eventually I just caved and got a new monitor for free.

Oops, I doubt that's what you were asking.


I have a really old laptop that had an "FN" key and if you press it and a certein key it will make the monitor brighter, another key darker etc.
