Apollo too hard?

At least my first eperience in apollo says its easy, and I'm by no means an expert. PAC, standard terran and academy spam, emancipation victory on turn 266. Africa and Hutama were well ahead of me most of the game. I got lucky after africa announced mind flower around turn 220ish, managed to take it down on the last possible turn. After that just turtled and used mainly tacjets to defend while teleporting land troops off.

Generally turn 266 standard speed victories usually means someone will win before you unless you object (read: invade) in time.
I'm glad you won and I'm not going to say it's luck because it really depends on the game. But I will say that I don't expect to win if I know I'll finish t266 in an average game.
As an somewhat extreme example I had an AI finish within 2 turns of Mind Flower completion before. But that game aside I've lost a couple between 230 and 250 because the Mind Flower was just too far away and my army too small or immobile. So I try to win earlier than that.

Thanks to folks' comments (both in this thread & in others) I had gotten to where I could usually beat the game on Apollo. But now thanks to the latest patch, I've gotten my butt kicked twice in a row.

It looks like the AI got buffed (either directly or indirectly) with this patch. Very cool.
