How do you propose resoultions to the apolostic palace? I've waited several turns and nothing has happened besides my getting elected to the resident, what's going on I need to declare holy war for crying out loud!

From time to time the game gives you the opportunity to pass a resolution. However, this only happens when there is actually something to vote on.

If you want to start a holy war, then you need a member of the palace to be at war with a non-member (I'm not totally certain, but can't be far off). Once this is the casem and the game gives you the opportunity to put forth a resolution, there will be an option to declare a holy war against the infidels.

It's random, but if you don't have a state religion it seems to take longer. I can't base that on anything though.

You can vote for resolutions from the Appalastic Palace if you have the religion of the Apoplastic Palace. I don't think you need to have build the Apoplectic Palace in the first place.

:rotfl: Its the Apocalyptica Palace....4 guys, 4 cellos and a moshing Pope

There are triggers, when the conditions for those triggers arise, you will be presented with a vote.

Usually its every 9 turns between votes. I don't know if this is changed depending on speed played though.

Not with the Apo-calypso Palace ;)

You can have the AP and never have a vote on anything other than residency for an entire game. It's all about triggers.

This is correct, I built the Acropolis palace in 350BC and my first vote came up in 400AD!

My wife is calling it the Apoplexy palace.

Luckily she has a sense of humour or I wouldn't be playing civ4 as much as I do :D

Yeah I was having the same problem and it doesn't tell you anything in any of the manuals. But now I see. Guuuh.

The Appaloosa Palace is very willing to end your war against the infidels (please, no!) but it is frustratingly slow to declare a holy war. I bet that could be changed with a bit of code, but I am not sure how.

I also had problems coming to the resolution I wanted from the Apostolic Palace...the so-called "Religious Victory". Playing as Isabella I founded Buddhism and spread it to my neighbour, Alexander. When I made contact with the other civs I also spread it to them, with Buddhism in at least one of the AI civs except Montezuma, who refused to allow me Open Borders and was running Theocracy. Later, Hannibal split off a colony in the form of Napoleon, but I was able to bribe him to convert to Buddhism so it must have spread to one of his cities naturally.

In the end, however, never did a resolution to vote me winner of the game ever arise, even though I am told this can happen. Eventually I discovered Mass Media and the AP was obsoleted. Still, I wonder why I never was able to pass that game-winning resolution. In fact, hardly any resolutions at all came forth throughout the entire game!

The manual says you need your state religion present in every other civilization for the election (diplomatic victory) to happen.

You need Buddhism in one of Montezuma's cities for that to happen. If the conditions are met Religious victory as a vote option will always come up. But I agree if Montezuma has his borders closed there's no way of spreading your religion to him.

BUT there's a solution! You can go to war with him and make him a vassal. Then you can spread Buddhism to him, force convert him and what's more he'll vote for you.

Yes, it'll give a real religious victory.

U have resolution voting only:
U have more than one voter. ie. at least another civ have at least one city that have the AP relgion.
Than u ahve to fit into the condition for the specific resolution, ie.
Declearing war require at least one full member (civ that adopt AP religion) with war with non-full member
Stop trading is similar
Open border requires all voting members to be in peace
i dunno about about defensive pacts....seems more is required
Assign city need a city that is possible to flip
And finally, AP diplo victory requires all civs in the game are voting member

I had a dynamic game with AP, tried most resolution, and actually succed in declear war (6 agaisnt 1!!) and i won through AP diplo!
