Are we asking too much?

By sharing all of our ideas with each other (getting ourselves all fired up in the process), are we setting ourselves up for a major disapointment? I think that at this point, it would be impossible to add all of the good ideas without killing the game. Which leaves me wondering if civ 3 even has a chance of living up to our expectations.

Oh, it'll live up to expectations. Just not every single one that every one has.

I'm sure it'll be just great, even if not every one of my ideas in in the finished game; I understand it's just isn't possible to please all the people all of the time.

However, if my 'long weeked with Gabriela Sabatini' Wonder which I've been lobbying for isn't included, I may seriously consider a boycott of Sid Meir's games and a mass burning of Civ products.

I believe almost everyone will be disappointed with some aspect of Civ3 when it is released. All you have to do is read the postings in the forums. There are too many things people have a problem with to fix. I loved Civ2, but there were things I did not like. But, Civ is still the best computer game ever. I am anticipating the release of Civ3, but I know there will be things I will not like or have a problem with. In the end, it is just a game so try and enjoy playing it.

The game won't fulfill all of our expectations that's for sure. But we know that firaxis takes under consideration many anonymous proposals as they did for civ II

Talking about disappointement I'm already a bit disappointed from the graphics... see here

No game is ever going to fulfill all my expectations (unless I suddenly gain complete control of all the world's computer resources and programmers!). All I ask is that CIV3 is better than CIV2 in the same way CIV2 was miles better than CIV, which in itself was fantastic at the time. Hopefully the designers are aware of what people like and don't like (I'd be surprised if they didn't try to read discussion groups like this one), and will take that on board

I know that Civilization 3 won't be a perfect game. But after reading aricels and intervies with the Fraxis team I have seen that many of the things have been added.

Naturally people will be disappointed in this or that aspect, but I rest assured that Civ 3 will be better than Civ 2, and since Civ 2 is the best game I've ever played, well, I think you follow...
