Just a few days ago I was your average web user, going to my favorite sites with no concern. Then, my friend emailed me about spyware, and gave me a link to this website: http://www.pestscan.com/Scan.asp When I scanned my computer for spyware,I found that I had a bunch of different unauthorized programs on my computer that displayed popups, tracked what websites I went to,and collected personalized info about me.Check your computer by going to the website I mentioned above to test and see if you are being spied on.(and please come back to the forum and post your findings for other users to see)

Or get adaware or Spybot which you can find by searching on google or dowload.com.

Edit: Its not really advertising since he is trying to help people rather than promote a particular site...

This is what I found on my computers about two weeks ago. The computer was two years old.

It did nothing for me, but then again, I have javascript disabled, and aren't running IE, so it couldn't load the code. You should be careful when running applications from companies that you might not trust, it could prove to be harmful to your computer.

Omg dude, that is a lot. I had my computer for 3 years, the first time I ran it I had 300. I noticed with ur screen shot u had an icon for Lycos Sidesearch a dead give away of spyware present.

I always thought Kazaa Lite wasn't that bad and its possible to run adaware and spybot after you install it...

One reason not to use them. :ack:

Yeah but try convincing someone who uses it and doesn't know how much crap it is putting on it. I have told my brother at least 10 times and he refuses to allow me to so much as touch it. :wallbash: :wallbash: :wallbash: :twitch:

Ofcourse I am spied on! It's them invisible men on the moon with their satellites.

Well seriously having a program like Spybot or AdAware is a must these days.

IIRC I have never had more than some 5 or so spyware programs at a time on this comp... My memory may fail me, though.

Holy crap! That's kind of a lot spyware!

It may not be healthy to download everything possible from Kazaa/porn sites. Since there is 10 running spyware processes, you probably have dozens of viruses too. :p

Hmm, I should check for that. :hmm: And again not my computer it's my older brothers. So I can't do what I like on it. that includes removing kazza, :( I had a feeling that there was stuff on his computer when the moment I signed onto the web I got bombarded by 20 or so pop ups :crazyeye: . That and the fact that his computer was really slow. :D

Nope, the worst I have had is tracking cookies on my computer and that was way back when I never cleaned my cache or cookies. Now I clean them almost daily (easy because I use a program), so any tracking cookies aren't a problem. The only spyware that I've had to deal with was when I went to a cracks site and got nCASE installed on my comp - luckily Zone Alarm stopped nCASE from accessing the Internet. And I learned my lesson to never get cracks using insecure Internet Explorer.

Is it just me, or do you have to pay for that PestScan thing?

I used to use iMesh/Kazaa regularily, then I smartened up, and got rid of them, not I am slowly cleaning up the mess left behind.
