Armies and obsolete units

I suppose this will sound like a stupid question to anyone who knows the answer already but I haven't figured it out yet.

How do I unload my obsolete units out of my armies so that I can load modern units into it?

I had armies loaded with centurions and cavalry that would do me a lot more good if I coud empty them out and load tanks and mech infantry.

i am pretty sure you cannot, the army remains until it dies

KNAS is right, you cannot unload armies.

I'm told even going into Editor and clicking on "unload" for Armies won't work.

But apparently the new stack movement with 1.17 allows you to get units out of armies. I haven't tried it yet (the 'J' key thing) but others have posted it works. This is the only good thing about the 1.17 patch.

BTW, I also changed the number of units allowed in an Army to four, otherwise it is not worth building, especially since the movement is always only '1' even if you try Editing it up.

the movement of the army is the movement of the slowest unit in the ary, ie. 1 spearman and 2 knights= 1 movement 3 knights = 2 moves

There is no reason to build armies after you discover modern armors. Army units lose their special abilities when they have put in the army (heard that 1.17f takes away those problems, but my update is not working.., yet). Cavalry is last unit that is wise to put in an army or so I think.......

You can use Modern Armor in if you are expecting long wars so you have a fast moving base for other Modern Armors

this doesn't have to do with the question, but I could have sworn it said you can have 4 army units if you have Intelligence agency, but I can't do that. HELP ME!!

The pentagon allows you to have 4 units in your armies.

If you installed the latest patch 1.17f you can unload units from your armies.

Use the new batch move feature "J" key.

Lets say you have an army loaded up with tanks and just developed modern armor.

What you need to do is move an existing tank over your army unit. Press the j key and move all the units someplace else. This should leave your army empty.

The only drawback is that when you activate there is no highlight ring.

But it works all the same.
