Army used to protect king and move relic?

Hi Civers

I have started a pbem Crusades scenario ... the aim is for a holy relic to be returned to Jerusalem ... there are many king units so I am assuming it is mass regicide ... (click link in my signature for more info)


Questions - Relics and Kings

1. Once the Relic is picked up, can it be unloaded or transfered to another unit?
Hawklord - Once you pick up the relic I think you are stuck with it, but if you upgrade a unit it will drop the relic.

2. Can an army be loaded with a 'king unit' ie king with personal guard ... that way the king has better protection?

3. Can Army be loaded with relic ... ie. the unit carrying the relic is loaded into an army ... will the relic unload when destination is reached?



So guys and gals any experience or thoughts on my queries

NO.

Hawklord - Once you pick up the relic I think you are stuck with it, but if you upgrade a unit it will drop the relic.

Don't know about upgrade effect on relic.

I think I once picked up a relic and then loaded that unit into an army. Also I think if the army has one space left it can pick up the relic. I'm about 95% sure on that.

I know this: if you upgrade a treasure-carrying unit in AoD - this unit will drop the treasure. I don't know if this is true for relics tho.

They have the same graphics ... so maybe the unit name is the only difference ...

1) Correct; upgrading means dropping the unit (did that in the Middle Ages Conquest).
2) Didn't try it in MAs, but it is a common strategy for Sengoku; so I cannot imagine it won't work. The Kings do have the 'load' flag (otherwise they also couldn't board ships, and i know they can do that).
3) Yes, an Army can pickup a relic. No, it doesn't count as another unit (for boarding ships etc).
