Arrgh!! My Rules.txt...

:help: ...Allright, this is the situation...After looking through this rules.txt I am beginning to become dizzy and fed up. I can't seem to find the problem. :crazyeye: :cringe:

This is the current rules.txt from the Axis&Allies scenario (there is a thread from it below). It is far from done, but the course has been layd out.

Can somone take a fast look at it and see if they can find the problem...I would apreciate it... :love2: :worshp:
 
Anybody? Please, my progress has come to a stand still due to this. The problem lies within the technology advances. :(
 
The problem could be something I encountered while I worked on my scen (for information on my scen look here:

I observed the following error:

During my work I played a few turns to see if unit-movement and such things work properly but unfortunately in this rounds the AI began to research techs. I did not think about it and began to rename the techtree so it will fit into the scen-theme.

And when all the work was done and I would like to playtest it, the game freezes the same way yours did.

Well here's the solution:
During the first turn the AI began the research on "Bridge Building" but I renamed this tech so when this civ finished it's research "Bridge Building" was no longer there because the changes of technames does not effect the tech that is researched at the moment. It began the research on a tech that no longer exist so it got confused and crashed.

What I did was the following:
I let the AI finished the work on Bridge Building immediately with the cheat-menu and afterwards assigned her an already renamed tech.

Don't know how I could explain this problem to you but I hope you understand what I mean, it cost me some time to figure it out since it's very tricky but in the end I got it.

I don't think that is the case with my rules.txt. I suspct there is something wrong with the preq1 and preq2 or I have misspelled some of the techs. The stupid thing is that I can't see it.

The funny thing is that when I go to "start on a premade world" it won't even start. It just crashes and quit civ2, even when many of the techs are nil and should be researchable. When I load a recent sav-file, it works fine, until I go to the cheat menu to hurry technology advance, the same thing happens.

Anyone? Please!!! (Thanks for the reply anyway, de Montcalm :) )
 
I've not done much of anything in the way of scenarios, so this may be allowable, but I looked at it and noticed that Simple Design(Rob) has a Prereq 2 of Panzerkampfwagen V (Mob) but prereq1 is nil.

Does there need to be a prereq1 before you have a prereq 2?
 
It didn't change anything, but very well observed. I've seen this txt-file so many times now, that I start to overlook details like that. This is really beginning to get frustrating! :mad: :(
 
Yep, I think it's this:

Inv<Eng<Whe<Gun<Inv

I traced it by starting with Future Tech and going backwards. Sometimes its easier to get it out of Notepad. This time I put @CIVILIZE into Excel. Other times I pull out some paper.

Oops! I didn't save it last night. Try changing the preqs of Gun to Iro, nil (currently it's Inv, Iro). The mistake I spotted is the Inv in that line. Indirectly, Inv requires Gun as a preq, and Gun requires Inv as a preq.

Once I spotted that, I quit looking for any other mistakes. Hopefully, there are none, and the change above will work.

Woohooo! I solved it! :eek: There were several little stupid errors wich confused the game. Now I'm back in the game :) Thanks for replying :goodjob:
 
Ok, folks. I've come across some more **** with the rules.txt (which is as good as done, so is the scenario :) )

Could someone please take a look H E R E and see if you can contribute in anyway on saving my rules.txt? :love:
