Art of the Possible

The British Govenrment notes the Siamese decision to mobilise and declare war with no provocation or valid grounds for conflict. The British Govermment has long been a friend of the Siamese Court and a guarantor of Siamese independence. However, the threat to India and British Malaya are such that a diplomatic solution -- which maintains peace and the good will of nations -- while desirable cannot be thought practical. Thus it is with the heaviest of hearts that the British Government declares war on Siam. May God have mercy on them.

The British Government declares an immediate blockade of Siam, with all goods material to the Siamese ability to wage war declared as contraband. Neutral shipping are to submit to boarding and search. Neutral vessels found in breach are to be seized.

The Siamese Government is call on to surrender.

The United States of America decries the United Kingdom's decision to war with Siam.

Siamese has by its own admission declared war on Britian and by its actions -- mobilisation -- followed through on its words. The British Government accordingly gives little weight to the United States reading of events.

The Ottoman Empire joins the United States in decrying the United Kingdom's declaration of war. The Siamese, and any independent nation, has the right to form its own trade policies, and is under no obligation to sign treaties thrown at them, especially ones they have had no part in writing.

The Ottoman Empire also points out that moblising national militaries for defensive purposes is in no way a declaration of war, and that Siam poses no direct threat to the United Kingdom. British soldiers setting foot on Siamese soil would be nothing more than blatant war mongering.

The Ottoman Empire prays that the United Kingdom and its allies will see reason and refrain from senseless bloodshed, and respect the sovereignty of Siam.

The Austro-Hungarian Empire joins the Ottomans, The United, and Confederate States of America, and Persia, in decrying the British declaration of war against the Kingdom of Siam.

France would note that this is a matter not to be meddled in by outside parties. We are fully committed to acting with Britain in the interests of peace and security in the region, and will join them.

France declares war on Siam

OOC: I think some of you have legit no interests/relations with Siam, and your condemnation is.... hmm :p

Siam declared war first guys.

Siam declared war first guys.

OOC: no they did not; go read post 421. They mobilized to provide defense in response to the threatened invasion, not to declare war.

The Ottoman Empire is saddened to see France join in wanton murder with the British. The idea that Siam poses such a threat to the two largest empires on earth would be laughable if the situation wasn't so deplorable.

We once again plead with the British and French to stop this madness.

It might appear that the famous...how did you say it, "icy coldness" of the British isn't so icy. Of the two-headed hydra in the France/Britain coalition, I thought that Britain is the smarter part. Seems like it's all the same, however.

Consider this a belated 24 hour warning.

Well, I'll be closing the deadline for revisions or additions to orders in 24 hours, but will still accept NEW orders until some time on Wednesday morning.
