I posted this question in the thread about tips for a rusty civ player, but I feel it would be better served with it's own thread.

I've seen references to the articles about SSC's and power democracy. Since I'm new to the site, I can't find them. Where should I be looking?

With Search turned off, it's kind of hard to find them. Once search is back up, maybe we should put together an index thread that links to these other useful threads.

I would really appriciate it. I'm finding myself obsessing about strategy, and any little edge will help. Any possible ETA on getting the search back up?

The best starting places are the War Academy at CFC and the Great Library at Apolyton.Net/CIV2. I posted a CFC link regarding Power Democracy in the "rusty civ player" thread. I keep my own "Favorite Links" on many specific topics; the only general strategy guide I liked was Solo's Early Landing Strategy Guide over at Apolyton.Net. I've got links on tech strategies, pollution, combat, hut outcomes, caravan deliveries, tech gifting, research costs, and alliances, just to name a few.

A "CFC Great Library" thread might be worth making "Sticky" over here in the Strategy Forum. It would be a duplication of Apolyton's, but they have been having a lot of server problems in the last month, such that I often cannot get on for days at a time. A decent number of their threads point back here to CFC anyway.

One of the beauties of CIV2 is that there are many different strategies, each appropriate to different starting situations or goals. A lot of them are tucked away in discussion forums like the Democracy game and the GOTM Spoilers. Try extending the number of days that your forum displays (at the bottom) and read through some of the older threads.

BTW: you are not nuts... maybe a little obsessive/compulsive...

In the Game of the Month -- some time back Starlifter grouped together a bunch of tricks & "cheats" -- worth looking at.

Also scan through the strategy section -- a couple of power democracy discussions were there some time back & pay attention to anything describing the benefits of Trade.

These links might feel well in the 'Links' thread (one of first links in GL)...

Due to recent problems at Apolyton I changed the link in my signature directly to my pages - I hope a download is easy now. Also Apolyton looks to be quite healthy now.

The 'Strategies' section in the GL is still waiting for its content. It should contain things like Power Democracy, ICS, OCC, 5-size strategy etc. Anybody who wants to collect links is welcomed.

It's been annouced that Search has been turned back on.

Mostly he likes me to double click on the fish and whale squares to bring up the definition pages. He also has me click on various units, the buffalo, pheasent squares, etc. We'll get him there...
