the big point in managing the sling is that you most likely get all or near to all AA techs through it (aside from being first and that rather soon to a new and better gov form).

therefore, much more important than early forces are early explorers. like, scouts or warriors or chariots or horses for the landmasses and especially curraghs for the seas. meet as many AS as you can early, and you have a lot to trade for when you got those slingshot techs.

you simply add the values of the tiles your town or towns work, add them together and will know, when you got that SF up and running, when you will have enough commerce for e.g. Writing, when your workers need to improve which tile so it becomes available, etc.

with such a tool you can plan ahead often from only knowing your start position, comparing different approaches which one will turn out better. it is an alternative to the "gut feeling" approach. ;)

Edit: open the txt save with Excel. it originally is an Excel file, but you cannot attach xls files on this site.
