Atheism is something unique.

Do you look at these threads, there are tons of them here.
...and I'll bet 90% of all threads espousing strong atheism do so precisely in order to provoke and see what kind of stuff religious people will come up with to argue against it.

Such as...? There are few people that believe God specifically cannot exist and I'd wager there are even fewer who take to the streets proclaiming such.

He's a God, he's supposed to look weird. We'll call him Sapien The Destroyer. We field tested 'Homo The Destroyer' first, it doesnt seem to strike as much terror in the mortal soul. Our numbers are up 38% since we switched to Sapien. Combined with our new Rap themed ad campaign, we should be approaching Scientology numbers by the end of this fiscal year.

The kinks though, remain. He can and frequently does know the truth, but in his heart denies it...

If he is a God, surely he is the only one who damns himself. :)

I would say that an atheism which would be free of its reactionary character to the entheism it was formed so as to cancel, would indeed be 'unique' in that sense.
However not all types of atheistic thoughts are independant of the entheism their thinker has in mind.
A very obvious case of such a non-independant atheism would be Nietzsche's, in which he is always very dependant on what he fights against, which is idealism (and not only religious idealism).

...and the very basic particles of the universe.

This thread only serves nothing more than to bash religion.

No, that's Leonardo's work. Since they have no God, they need something to worship to ;).

Shrug. I've never even met a strong atheist... they are a rare breed.
I see that you have not even met CurtSibling, one of the biggest Anti-theist and the biggest strong atheist around here. Though he only pops in here once in a blue moon.

CivGeneral, meet science. Science, meet CivGeneral.

Actually, by now, it seems to have turned more in a "bash atheism" direction. Which is okay, we like it best under fire ;) .

I know of him, but I wouldn't say he 'follows' atheism. Unless he's flyering Glasgow.

Because all religions are really just composed of themselves. There is nothing unique about religions. Atheism, however, is the belief that there is no higher authority, no intelligent "power". .
Are you trying to describe atheism or total anarchy? I can't tell much difference. Sociality is basic of Theism ; man in the place of God. Jesus asked the Pharisees who were just as much unbelievers (hypocrites) saying isn't it written "Ye are gods?"

I already met Scinece thank you very much, and I dont see it as a threat to Roman Catholicism and Buddhism.

Oh goodie, let me pull out my katana :mischief:.

Sorry kid, that's Agnosticism, as stated in the OP.

Do you believe that God is non existant? If you believe that God does not exist. Youre an Atheist.

Do you believe that God is an unknown? If you believe that God is an unknown, then youre an Agnostic. I know because I am a former Agnostic myself.

In other related news, the number 46 is unique! It is the only integer between 45 and 47!
